Cycling 4:14:00 [3]

Didn’t get a run in today as scarified it for sleep which I felt I really needed after feeling lethargic yesterday.
I had much more energy today.
49miles/600m back to the ferry the way we came on Thursday.
Sounds slow but there was a 20/25 mph headwind the whole way! I felt really good all day though. I did a few short efforts every now and again and my legs feel they have their power back.
Period started today which might explain why I felt so lethargic yesterday.

Run (Easy) 1:02:00 [3] 10.6 km (5:51 / km) +39m 5:45 / km

Didn’t wake up in time for my planned pre breakfast run.Had a great sleep- felt I really needed it.
Felt pretty lethargic all morning, but I think that was probably the last night last night and lack of running.
Walked around a fair bit in the morning/early afternoon- probably around 7/8 miles.
First and last 1km were on tarmac, rest of run was in woodland park and quite soft underfoot. Some tiny undulations but the majority completely flat. Didn’t feel terrible, but didn’t feel particularly good, mainly due to breathing still being quite arduous when I run. I felt better and better as the run went on.
Did 4 strideouts at the ends. Legs felt good and this seemed to give me more energy.

Cycling 3:51:00 [3]

46km/256 am
36km/94m pm
Cycled from the ferry north. First 1.5hrs were pretty grim as it was pouring down and I hate cycling in the rain. Got a bit cold so we stopped for an early lunch, mainly to get warm.
Rain stopped and post lunch ride was much more pleasant in cycle track through the sand dunes. 50 mins into the 2 hour afternoon ride we stopped for about 45 mins at a museum.
It felt like a very tame day of cycling!

Run (Easy) 23:00 [3] 4.3 km (5:21 / km) +4m 5:19 / km

A very short run late afternoon.
All on pavement. Legs felt a bit weird at first after being on a bike for 2 days but after about 5 mins they felt fine.
Legs felt really good and would have liked to have run for longer but didn’t have time before dinner.

Walked about 6-7 miles around town etc.

Cycling 5:15:00 [3]

Cycled from Leeds to Hull on road bike. Stopped for an hours lunch after about 3 hours. Pretty gentle pace. No wind and dry. Didn’t feel particularly strong but not pain anywhere.

Run (Easy ) 37:00 [3] 6.25 km (5:55 / km) +70m 5:36 / km

Got a cold just before bed last night.
Woke up with blocked nose and chesty cough (ever since I got pneumonia about 6/7 years ago when I get a cold it always goes straight to my chest)
Spend 3 hours at the Turkish baths/spa. Steam room, cold plunge, sauna rooms and etc. This seems to really help and felt much better then the morning.
No DOMS today.
Went for an easy run in the park late afternoon. Breathing was a little hard given cold but surprisingly legs felt really good, like they wanted to go fast. Quite odd really. I kept it super easy so as not to overload my chest.

Monday Sep 23 #

slept:6.5 (rest day)

Didn’t get to Penrith until 1am as stopped for 2 naps on the way (which ended up being 45 mins and 60 mins)
Drove home first thing.
Felt really tired today but no DOMS.

Run (Race ) 9:38:00 [3] 51.0 km (11:20 / km) +4700m 7:46 / km

Glen Coe Skyline Race
5 + 1.5 hours sleep. Had to be up at 5 but woke up at 3 and dozed until 5.
First 4 hours of the race legs felt pretty heavy. The hardest bit was probably the first 10km up the massive track of the west highland way as I struggled with running uphill. Any slight descent felt really good and I overtook a bunch of people on every downhill. Curve ridge was a bit frustrating as because i’d got caught between the “tourist” runners I had to queue a few times on the way up. I got loads of food in on this part though which was good. After seeing the salmon lot who were out cheering at around 3.30hrs I got a second wind and got into a good rhythm and on the climb after that I overtook loads of people and feels pretty good. I ran out of food about an hour before the road checkpoint as I was later than I expected. Ate a load on the 1 hour hike out of this checkpoint. I felt good on the ridge and really enjoyed it. The undulating part after the ridge 7.30-8hrs was tough as I struggled on the uphill parts but after the last checkpoint it was downhill to the end and legs were fine. Looking at splits I was fastest female from the last checkpoint. I was pretty exhausted by the end and had to sit on the floor on the finish line. Really pleased I did it. Felt I learnt a lot.
After a shower and food I felt loads better.
Drove part way home and stopped at Penrith.
