12 PM

Run (Hilly fartlek ) 1:39:00 [3] 18.0 km (5:30 / km) +650m 4:40 / km
slept:10.0

Fantastic nights sleep. Woke up feeling really good and motivated for today’s run.
2 x sets of drills.
20 easy, 1 hour hilly fartlek (16 reps between 1 and 4 mins), 20 mins easy.
Found today’s run harder than I thought I would. Struggled to maintain moderate pace on flat sections. Think hills were probably similar pace to how I normal do on this run.
It was strange as the cool down 20 mins I felt really good so not sure why I struggled to push on the flat sections.
4 PM

Note

1 hour massage this afternoon. Left leg a little tight probably due to fall last Sunday. Nothing of note and legs generally in good shape.
Had a 30 min nap after massage - very usually for me to have a day time nap, especially after a 10 hour sleep!

Run (Easy) 1:11:00 [3] 12.7 km (5:35 / km) +198m 5:11 / km

Took a while to get to sleep last night as my leg was throbbing as I think it’s in full healing mode.
Run left fine. Pitch back to being waterlogged so i’m Afraid I didn’t do diagonals. Did 6 x strides at end which felt good.

Sunday Jan 12 #

8 AM

Run (Easy) 1:20:21 [3] 10.0 km (8:02 / km) +300m 6:59 / km
slept:8.5

Easy run out along the race route. Really wet and went off course so saw about 4 miles of the route.
Legs felt good. Stomach ok so decided to do the race.
Saw some Spine challenger racers out on the course - looks grim!!
The race starts 1 hour later than I thought! Grr!!
11 AM

Run (Fell race ) 1:00:35 [3] 11.0 km (5:30 / km) +439m 4:35 / km

Race was a bit of a disaster. About 3 minutes in I slipped and smashed my knee on a rock and I lost sight of the lead ladies.
It hurt but felt ok to carry on but I had kind of lost my race head and found it really hard to get going with no one to chase.
A bit of blood but it seems lots of bruising but not too big a bump. On a positive note, at least I didn’t poo myself!
I’ll send you an email on my thoughts on this, I think it might be food related so I need to get it sorted quickly before the proper races start.
