Orienteering race 49:40 [4]+455m
ahr:170 max:182 shoes: Sarva
Last OY for the year. Made a few mistakes, a one point coming close falling off the bottom of the map. Also a bit slow in the steep wet tussock terrain, especially without orienteering shoes. Aaron just hooned around and thrashed us all.

Aaron Prince 46:40
Me 49:39
Carsten Jorgensen 51:34

Saturday Nov 25

Running 2:06:45 [3]+638m
ahr:140 max:165
Long run up Wolsley spur and down the spur that may or may not be used for the race tomorrow. Felt much better today and ran comfortably.

Friday Nov 24

Running 1:32:10 [2]+372m
ahr:126 max:160 shoes: Asics 2110 2.0
Felt weak and tired today. The usual shuffle at the start of the run stretched well past Carsten's place today. So really easy running up the rapaki and down the dry ridge.

Thursday Nov 23

Running 1:32:10 [2]+462m

Easy run after yesterday. Cruised up Rapaki and ventured up Mt Vernon. Gale type winds meant I had to sneak back down the valley. Hamstrings felt well used from the race yesterday.

Wednesday Nov 22

Running 25:00 [2]
shoes: Asics 2110 2.0
Warmup - Checking out the start of the course with Carsten and Jenni.
Running race 29:00 [5]
shoes: Asics 2110 2.0
Godley Head run out, the second of the offroad races. Started from the Taylors mistake carpark followed the coastal track. Climbed up to the top of Godley Head and followed the mountain bike track back before descending the spur back to the finish.

Started at a much more relaxed pace this time and cruised in the bunch until the climb. Passed a few people going up and a couple on the mountain bike track and ended up in 5th place. Overall a much more pleasant race than last week.
Running 10:00 [1]
shoes: Asics 2110 2.0
No stopping at the end of the race today. Keeping the legs moving to prevent nasty soreness that crept up last week.

Running 1:54:20 [3]+602m
ahr:136 max:166 shoes: Asics 2110 2.0
Long easy run today. Cruised up gorge and for a change headed up the spur of death, enjoying the last remnants of a glorious fine day. Survived the climb and finally summited Mt Vernon. Floated along the tops until reaching the foot of the mighty Sugarloaf. Some more running along the mtb tracks and then due to a mysterious optical illusion found myself once more atop Mt Vernon. This permitted a pleasant cruise down Rapaki Rd followed by a second helping of the Heathcote.

So nice.

Monday Nov 20

Running 1:20:55 [3]+458m
ahr:144 max:169 shoes: Asics 2110 2.0
Along the river and trucking pace up Rapaki. Nice pleasant day after the freezing rain and cold of Waikaia. Enjoyed the view from Mt Vernon and cruised down the dry ridge.

Legs feel much better after a weekend of orienteering. Not often legs improve with hard orienteering races.
