Running race 17:39 [3]
shoes: Kayano 15

5k Fun run around Hagley Park. Took it pretty slowly at the start, and ended up running pretty consistent pace, with a slight dip in the middle.

Riding to/from Hagley park.

Nice recovery morning run along the river, over Huntsbury Spur, and then well, along the river again. Felt pretty good today, which is always a nice way to start the week.
Good to see they have finally cleared that nasty grass from the river track, so we can finally run on it again.

Running - Intervals 54:30 [3]
shoes: Adidas Revolt

Oh my legs didn't feel like running fast today, but I felt I should do some of those intervals I was meaning to run on Friday. Took an extra long warm up to Hansen's park, and around it a few times.

Then it was 8x400m with 200m rest. Plus an extra 200 added to the end to make 5km. Overall time was 19:15, but sadly my splits have vanished into the electronic ether. However I'm sure that this workout will make my super speedy at a real 5k sometime in the future...

Actually found it really tough, and my poor quads just felt dead the whole time. Especially over the last half which felt rather slow. And there was definitely a couple of very slow recovery 200s in the middle there... Still a good first effort, and I'll be able to feel good when I do it faster next time.

Finished off with a very slow warmdown around the park (spotted Tane out enjoying the rain too) and home to rest my poor poor legs.

A long endurance ride around long bays. In the cloudy drearyness. And some rain. Riki joined me for the first part, as we headed up to the kiwi via Kidson Tce and then down the basdrat. Was quite chilly up on top, not to mention descending into the southerly.

Riki slacked off, turning off at Governors, but I could see it was definitely clearing so continued around the rest of the bays, and over Evans. Then it really started to rain... Bit of a struggle back into the southerly rain, so I was forced to stop for some lunch.
Legs were definitely getting quite tired over the last few hills, which were quite a struggle.

Tried to go for a real run, but unfortunately never felt very comfortable actually getting above a jog today - I seemed to be suffering a bit of a recurrence of some old trouble. So only a short outing mostly jogging, with some walking (feeble or what). Oh well a bit sad really - I'll have to try to do better.

Headed out for a nice easy ride following the sun the Sumner. Was very pretty out across the estuary on the way home, so I just had to take a quick photo...

As I was there admiring the view Andy and the coffee shop girls came by and forced me back to Sumner, and then even up to the top of Evans. So much effort for a Friday! Fortunately they let me have a sugar filled hot chocolate after that.

Over to Bottle Lake. Managed to get lost as usual, and do an extra loop around some river.

Very easy paced run with Steph. I guess it should count as recovery, but my legs didn't think so.

Struggled back into the miserable rain. Started the ride feeling a little chilly, and never really warmed up much, so I did a pretty good impression of looking ill and hypothermic - a countenance I seem to do both often and well ( I'm sure it's a talent ). Still, it gave me a chance to contemplate just how unfair it all was, but there's not much I can do about that.

Running - Intervals 27:40 [3]

A bit rushed, but managed to squeeze a short run in the morning. Just enough time to do some fun intervals which was nice - though my legs were a little weak for the last few.

Cycling - Road 2:10:00 [3]

Did the long bays loop - to the kiwi along to Gebbies and back around the bays. Felt pretty good, and even seemed fast and not tired coming back from Sumner.

As soon as I got home Andy harassed us to go out again, this time up the hill with Emily, Katherine, and Riki. Took it very easy, but gosh did I feel hungry.
