Sprintervals at MRU on the Sarcee Meadows portion. Hadn't been over in this area but it's pretty great for this kinda thing. Focusing on maintaining concentration and quick route choices.
6 x ~1k rest with full recovery
Loop 1: Pretty slow, still warming up i guess 5- bad route +20m 6 - got turned around and took a wrong turn, lost ~8 seconds
Loop 2: 7 - To focused on the current leg to read ahead...slow exit.
Loop 3: 3 - bad route, lost 20-30m, trees made the route that would have been fairly equal longer. Should remember to pay attention to veg during sprint.
Loop 4: 4 - Took a longer route but I think I came out on top with better running on the paths rather than on the grass with the trees 7 - Lost a bit of focus on the previous leg and was not reading ahead despite it being relatively long and had some easy sections I could have read ahead on. route ended up being very similar to others so no real time was lost.
Loop 5: All good
Loop 6: Legs getting heavy so a bit slower 8 - bad route +10m
Overall: My concentration was surprisingly good. Thought that I would have a hard time reading some of the fine detail in the map with how I normally am plus the rain but went great. I thought the route choice and navigation were going to be much harder but I guess not. Not sure if that was due to my concentration or just my bad course setting or the terrain.
Physically: kinda slow with the rain and semi-tired quads. Felt like I was hitting the ground harder by the end so will have to see how the shins feel tomorrow. I feel like my HR should have been higher but maybe my rests were too long for my effort level.

Pretty slow with the nasty veg and high water, the map really needs an update as well. No flagging so pretty tough, especially in some of the more vague areas.
1: good 2: good, followed some trails that weren't mapped but kept a good direction and had a strong attack point 3: short of the control when I hit an unmapped trail. should have payed better attention to the contours but even when I got to the actual control had a hard time finding the reentrant as it seemed to be a trail now. 4: good job not letting trails throw me off. 6: good, the swamp was a lot bigger than it seemed on the map 7: hit the right spot but thought the depression was part of the swamp so tried to look around for it. 8: the trail was unmapped and there was a huge unmapped swampy area around where the hill was so I didn't even get close to it. 9: lots of high water so had to stick to paths. unmapped trails got me a little turned around but I relocated well. walked right over/next to the control but didn't see anything. found the depression to the south just fine. High water and dense veg/low vis made this one especially hard 10: mixed up which trail I was on and should have been paying more attention to veg. 11: was on a hill but I guess not far enough along it 12: a little confused by the unmapped trail but used the contours well to do the rest of the leg well. 13: easy 14: should have gone in from the top of the reentrant 15: good 16: veg boundary was not very distinct 17: might have underrun this one but I was told this was a very shallow depression so wasn't very confident I'd find it easily. 18: veg was thicker than it seemed on the map so this was pretty impossible 19: thought the reentrant south was the big depression but while exiting the control I saw the actual one I was looking for. I probably should have been looking for the reentrant in the first place. 20-21: good but took some time to confirm 22-F: good use of contours. Had to go around some dense veg at 25
