Just a nice wee 5km shakeout around the park. Ideal circumference for a park <3. Felt a little shit at the start but managed to work my way into it but legs still very tired.

I just simply hate this race. There's something about it where I just don't like it. Maybe it was the distance (10km, normally this would be fine and I would be able to push myself to run a decent time but in this race, I couldn't pick my legs up at all after 5km so found myself slowly drifting further from the people in front and being picked up by the people behind). Yet again posting another shit time on another shit course.

In this race, I went off to try and stick to the race plan I had prepared. Posting 3:20min/km throughout the first 2km, then upping it to 3:15 min/km in the next 7km, then going balls to the wall in the last km. The first 2km went by fine with me achieving my target... This is where it gets shit.

I was stuck in no man's land, One lone runner out in front, me, then a larger group behind me (all running about 3:30min/km). On the exposed airstrip/race track, the wind was harsh. Well, you could say that for everyone?!? True but it would have been fine if I was in a group or had the strength of the lead runner, but I had neither. Just a tall, gangly, lightweight bean pole trucking along to the times he had put. What made it worse was the fact that I could feel myself slowing down but with the slightly undulating terrain and the wind, I couldn't do much about it but to spend most of my energy trying to maintain the pace.

Now here's a question for you... Do you like the sound of annoying, slapping, obnoxious footsteps, eating away at your eardrums like a fat man at a cheesecake factory?... No! Neither do I, but this is what I heard most of the way around, without any attempt to help me out!

And that was only a portion of the rant I could have gone on about.

Safe to say I will not be entering this race for next year... FUCK THAT!
