Orienteering 2:05:31 [2] 10.5 km (11:57 / km) +795m 8:40 / km
ahr:146

First training session at Almaden Quicksilver; emphasis on route choice. I put out controls, jogging peacefully and enjoying the views of Alamitos Valley. I straightened out the figure-8 course, so the long session participants actually covered more distance than I did.

Note

The session went OK, except the course was too long for anyone present except Syd to be able to go again and try alternate routes. Also, I misplaced #5—the other cliff was covered by the control circle, and I put it on the first cliff I saw. The people spent a long time in the chaparral looking for it.

Orienteering (Some map memory) 1:03:57 [3] 6.8 km (9:24 / km) +530m 6:46 / km
ahr:160 max:172

Picked up 5 of the 8 controls in the afternoon; upped the intensity compared to the morning. Tried some alternative routes.
