Rogaining 8:12:00 [2] 34.7 km (14:11 / km)

CNYO rogaine, second loop: most of the rest of Wynona. Beautiful woods, lots of running (some _lost of_ running, too; that #48 cost us the win).
Actual distance (34.7 +/– 0.2) km, straight-line (26.0 +/– 0.1) km, measured 02SEP2002; 14 controls.

Rogaining 14:03:00 [2] 59.1 km (14:16 / km)

CNYO rogaine, first loop (some O-Winona and all of Littlejohn except one). That Johnny Little is exceptional stuff, I tell you; wading knee- to chest-deep in a warm swamp for 20+ minutes in total darkness, that's what I came for.
My initial estimate for the length travelled was 50.0 km; a fairly scientifically calibrated OCAD measurement (finished 02SEP2002) yielded (59.1 +/– 0.3) km; straight-line distance (42.0 +/– 0.2) km, 19 controls.

Orienteering 21:36 [3] 3.5 km (6:10 / km)

BAOC training session at Stanford U. campus, part 1. After calibrating the pace count against the map, we were let loose on a window course to practice direction and pace. I practiced direction and time instead (a little too old to start incorporating pace counting into the routine). One disastrous leg, had to come back and re-run (time OK but direction, way off).

Orienteering 18:49 [3] 3.0 km (6:16 / km)

Part 2: After the direction/pace, we were let hone our newly developed skills on a regular course. I took it easy (in view of the coming rogaine), but even time spent in crossing traffic does not excuse losing a bunch of time to everyone including Angelica. I abstained from the mass-start course rerun which ended up at about 3:50/km pace (the traffic subsided...)
