Warmup 2:00 [2] 0.3 km (6:40 / km)

Orienteering 1:14:25 [4] 11.0 km (6:46 / km)

Moscow Championship Classic, qualifying race. Qualifying was top 30, which actually ended up top 35 as several non-Moscow club members ran. Caught up one of the people right away who ended up placing 7th; we got the intensity up to about my 5 for the first third of the race. Then I made a 2-min error, lost him, and continued at a fairly leisurely pace; felt the two nights of 3-hour "sleep" on a coach seat throughout. Was 26th/92 (select View->Encoding->Cyrillic (Windows)).

Note

The very long series of flights (redeye to East Coast + redeye transatlantic) actually seems to work great against the jet lag. I'm on the new time already on Saturday morning, at least sleep-wise.

Easy running 41:20 [2] 9.0 km (4:36 / km)

An anti-jet lag run in Izmailovskiy Park.

Thursday May 23, 2002 #

Note

Went SFO -> MSP -> EWR -> AMS -> SVO (the latter two, on Fri).

Wednesday May 22, 2002 #

Easy running 12:50 [2] 2.5 km (5:08 / km)

The new Nike shoes are awesome. (Awesome as much as Phil Knight is a moronic asshole, though.)

Race pace running 19:42 [4] 5.1 km (3:52 / km)

Sunnyvale Baylands loop, with Doug Stein (he did 20:51).

Tuesday May 21, 2002 #

Easy running 14:17 [1] 2.5 km (5:43 / km)

Easy running 1:03:33 [2] 12.1 km (5:15 / km)

Through Santa Clara. Some dirt.

Monday May 20, 2002 #

Easy running 14:28 [1] 2.5 km (5:47 / km)

Sunday May 19, 2002 #

Warmup 8:40 [1] 0.6 km (14:27 / km)

Warmup, sort of. Trying not to freeze.

Orienteering 1:37:08 [4] 11.3 km (8:36 / km)

DVOA A-meet at Mt. Penn. Botched the first two controls badly, then gave up. Only got somewhat motivated by the King of the Hill leg (but gave up on the leg's downhill portion).
