Rogaining 8:04:21 [2] 47.0 km (10:18 / km)
spiked:19/20c

WRC loop 2. Mostly running (a tablespoon of salt does wonders). In O-shoes. Felt great at the end, never mind the blisters. Still, felt like I was holding Vytenis down a bit (unlike most of the first loop).

Rogaining 14:18:16 [1] 70.0 km (12:16 / km)
spiked:32/35c

World Rogaine Champs, first loop. Mostly walking. The light worked like a charm except one of the regulators smoked up on me right away.
(I, not the light) apparently ran out of sodium at the end of the loop. We also couldn't find one of the controls (which the organizers later admitted shouldn't have been put where the map was what it was), so were late (planned time for this was 13 hours).

Easy running 23:14 [2] 5.0 km (4:39 / km)

A run from work to the old place to get the bright LEDs that got shipped there.

Note

Had just barely enough time to finish the solder operations on the LED light and had to call a cab for SFO. Still have to put together all the mechanicals—took a few tools on the plane.

Warmup 7:40 [2] 1.0 km (7:40 / km)

Stretching was 3'00.

Orienteering 26:26 [4] 4.4 km (6:00 / km) +160m 5:05 / km
ahr:165 max:171 spiked:13/14c

RMOC 1Kd Sprint Prologue. Spent exactly as much energy as I though was necessary to still be within reach of the lead pack. Turned out I would start right at the end of what formed the second train—Eric, Graeme, and Marcus would move out of reach from the start of the Chase.

Orienteering 59:43 [4] 9.2 km (6:29 / km) +285m 5:37 / km
ahr:163 max:169 spiked:11/12c

RMOC 1Kd Sprint Chase. A good run, moved up a bunch of places. Was at the lead of Train 2 at #8 and started cramping up; decided to do 8–9 alone and did an S-curve around the line. Turned out that most Train 2 members were also alone and did various interesting things while at that, so it didn't cost me any places. But I let Eddie, Greg, and Stefan Hess pass me after #10 where navigation ended.

Note

A night in a sleeping bag in DIA—nice rogaine training? But I did get to see Boulder this night.
