Hollenbeck and Homestead to Rancho, Crossroads, up to Black Mtn. and the camp (a troop of scouts there), watched the sunset. I didn't realize one could see Mt. Tamalpais from Black. Then down, through the secret shortcut and 54V2; the buses already stopped running so I did an extra 3.5 km to Stevens Creek and Stelling (by De Anza). Felt very slow and very powerful; was not tired at all at any point.
Splits: Point 2 (4.8 km/115 m) 29:34; Pasture Crossroads (13.3/400) 1:20:00; Black Mtn. Camp (19.2/955) 2:18:11; Point 5 (23.7/1045) 2:44:01; Point 2 (30.1/1170) 3:20:51; Stevens Creek and Stelling (35.1/1260) 3:55:03.
Note that these measurements are a bit off compared to those of
24 Aug 2002 and
05 April 2003. My guess is the latter is maybe measured 100 m too long; I used the distances from the former, and added 2.32 km for (where the shortcut branches off) to Black Mtn. Camp and 2.20 km for the shortcut. Also, I forgot some of the climb from the backpackers' camp back to Black Mtn on the 2002 climb measurement, so the climb agrees better with the April one.
