DVOA Return to the Watergap. Ran fine but slow until Control 8, where Wyatt, who started almost 6 minutes after, caught up. I promptly picked up speed, made a boom, and then another boom, this time together with Wyatt. Ran my ass out on the monster uphill and afterwards, losing Wyatt by a minute or so. Had novocaine and such stuff coming out of the system; drank just about everywhere, and felt about to throw up continuously after the monster hill. Did throw up at the finish.

Thursday Oct 30

Running with weights 55:17 [2]11 km (5:02 / km) +46m 4:55 / km
From work to the doctor's office at El Camino and Sylvan in Mt. View.
Note
The doctor removed two salivary gland tumors (looked like about 4 mm and 3 mm). The first one showed up sometime between the US Champs and the Highlander; I noticed the second one last Saturday. The surgeon was fairly certain they were benign, the pathology is due next week.

I feel just fine for running, and probably will as if nothing had happened.

Wednesday Oct 29

Easy running 47:01 [2]8.8 km (5:21 / km) +28m 5:16 / km
Lawrence roundtrip, and then to Great America Shell. It is finally cool.

Tuesday Oct 28

Easy running 21:27 [2]3.8 km (5:39 / km) +20m 5:30 / km
Lawrence. Felt like I had pulled the left lower-leg muscle on Sunday.

Sunday Oct 26

Orienteering 1:13:12 [3]8.5 km (8:37 / km) +515m 6:37 / km

A BAOC event at Montebello and Skyline Ridge. Felt like crap because of the heat; it was 94 F = 34 oC recorded in Portola Valley at the time I finished. Had to forego a second course, which had been planned as a part of a TLT or something like a TLT.

There was a Misha sighting. The event director got hit by a motorcycle (will probably live). Not sure if the two events are related.
