Easy running 5:24:11 [2] 45.0 km (7:12 / km) +550m 6:47 / km
shoes: Road Mizuno

Set out Control 121 for the San Francisco Night ant Day. From home; went on McCullough Rd. on the way to, and on SCA Trail the way back. 2:26:23 to the control.

It was a nice, sunny, not warm day. I had been hoping the whole trip would take about 4 hours—was ready for that much running, but not more. Indeed. For the first hour I could feel my spleen. Then, at about 2-hr mark, started to get dehydrated and there wasn't any water conveniently on the trail. Suffered on; also, had a mild hangover from last night. Finally rehydrated at the N end of GG Bridge.

After that, walked about 4 km, in sections (not all at once). Also, walked all uphills on the trail; and the last about 20 minutes on Embarcadero, when the spleen pain came back. I really should have taken the bus back from Marin City and got to the event site in time to help Eric and Terry work the finish; but in my stubbornness and irrational optimism, I hadn't taken any money for the bus.

Note

The throat mysteriously cured itself.

Note

Throat flared up deep on the left, felt similar to the mono. Was also a bit tired. Maybe I got more virus over the weekend, and the immune system is not quite up to speed to squash it instantaneously.

Easy running warm up/down 10:43 [2] 2.01 km (5:20 / km)
shoes: New Nikes

A De Anza warmup with Mikkel (Tapio showed up later). Both Tri Club and TiTs were there, which made for a total zoo. Nice weather, jusr barely warm.

Long intervals tempo (Threshold intervals) 27:58 [3] 6.44 km (4:21 / km)
ahr:165 max:178 shoes: New Nikes

3×2012 at T, 1:30 rest. With Mikkel for the first one; he felt much better than I did for the other two. I didn't feel that bad, no liver or spleen artifacts... just, this pace is most likely still faster than my real T, even though I ran a 10 km at a faster speed before my illness.

8:04 7:59 8:00.
