Running with weights 42:31 [2] 7.4 km (5:45 / km) +81m 5:27 / km
shoes: Road Mizuno

Took the 4:15 am SamTrans to Palo Alto station, then ran across all of Stanford campus to Page Mill & I-280 to be picked up by Harold and Penny. Going to the PCTR Skyline Ridge run. A bit too far to run up Page Mill all the way.

Easy running 2:52:12 [2] * 25.6 km (6:44 / km) +775m 5:51 / km
ahr:162 max:174 shoes: Road Mizuno

The run; I had entered the 50 km, but was nowhere ready for it. Ran the first 23 at even pace, but mid-6 min/km seemed so slow for the gently rolling course... People were mostly passing me, except for the downhills. Then, shortly into the next section, suddenly felt weak in the legs, and abruptly decided to quit. Walked back to the finish from the Alpine Pond parking area.

Splits/km: 1:14:35 / 11.5; 2:27:24 / 23.1. Aid station time: 3:36 (was quite dehydrated after the morning warm-up). Check out the results... word is, the Japanese dude is the new Scott Jurek.

Note

... but did not feel like running the whole week... maybe the recovery after last Saturday wasn't that great after all. Read I shouldn've run for 5 hours, yet.

Note

Recovered surprisingly well from the long run. On Saturday, I drank some potassium-laden juice, to which I added about 2000 mg of salt. Then we ate barbecue-chicken pizza at the event. It was good.
