Saturday Jul 16

Rogaining warm up/down 16:10 [1] 2.8 km (5:46 / km) +15m 5:37 / km
shoes: Hip Tigers

Ran from Santa Cruz Metro Center to the start of the Santa Cruz Mountains PCTR run. With a pack full of stuff. Got lost on the way a bit since the internet was down last night and I couldn't print a MapsOnUs map.

Medium pace running race (Threshold, then Easy) 3:40:37 [3] * 31.8 km (6:56 / km) +1100m 5:55 / km
ahr:159 max:175 shoes: Trail Mizuno

will fill this soon... the trail run.

Friday Jul 15

Strength training 15:00 [2] 0 km
shoes: Road Mizuno

Some strength training (40" on, 20" off, with a 4-minute break to fix a dislocated pulley) in the early morning with Mikkel. Had to cut it short 'cause I overslept.

Easy running 47:50 [2] 9.8 km (4:53 / km) +29m 4:49 / km
shoes: Trail Mizuno

After work, ran to the Arquez/DeGuigne BofA branch and back. It was warm, sunny, and dry, and the air was full of exhaust.

Tuesday Jul 12

Easy running warm up/down 10:46 [2] 2.01 km (5:21 / km)
shoes: New Nikes

Warming up at De Anza, dodging tri club people and football players... a man walking around the track to a middle-age woman: "Ooh look at all the hotties".

Short intervals intervals (Repeats) 37:26 [4] 6.44 km (5:49 / km)
ahr:146 max:182 shoes: New Nikes

R repeats, trailing Mikkel. 2×(805 + 602 + 402 + 200) with 402/402/202/202 rest. Tapio was in the pack, too; Thorsten joined us but was doing something else.

2:48 124 80 39.7
2:47 125 80 38.2.

Passed on the closing T. Felt good, with some spleenish mono aftereffects—or was it rather a pulled core muscle after the Friday weights?

Sunday Jul 10

Orienteering race 1:21:24 [3] *** 8.81 km (9:14 / km) +600m 6:54 / km
ahr:165 max:178 spiked:21/26c shoes: Integrators

BAOC event at China Camp State Park. Ran OK; felt physically weak and made some questionable decisions while almost aware of doing such.

This is probably the lowest trough of my shape after the mononucleosis experience; right after the acute phase ended, I was sick but still moving OK because of the accumulated training base. Now I am healthy but untrained.
