Easy running warm up/down 10:47 [2] 2.24 km (4:49 / km) +29m 4:31 / km
ahr:150 max:162 shoes: Falcons

Warmed up near the Sprint event.

Orienteering race 15:26 [4] *** 2.9 km (5:19 / km) +90m 4:36 / km
ahr:169 max:182 spiked:10/11c shoes: Falcons

The Sprint at the Blue Ridge Challenge and the Interscholastics. I had a decent run with one large mistake. Didn't quite push it up to a 5-km race pace, slowing down a bit in the green, and didn't slack off or waste time on self-pleasuring map reading, either. But, Kenny Fugate made a joke of most of my splits. If he keeps improving, watch for the kid in the 2007 Series Finals, if not this year.

Note

Mucho points today. Alone worth the $390 plane ticket.

Another evening thinderstorm made a joke of my training plans again.

Note

I prepared a Pedometer map of Greer, NC, having planned to run in the evening near the airport hotel. But, it thunderstormed, so I wasted time instead on AttackPoint.

Note

I passed on the I: the I workout will be the North Carolina Sprint.

Easy running 7:43 [2] 1.4 km (5:31 / km)
shoes: Hip Tigers

Jogged from 4th and Market to Caltrain. There was a parade of ancient fire engines on Market, commemorating the earthquake, and I guess that's why the 4th St. bus never showed up.

Easy running warm up/down 21:49 [2] 3.97 km (5:30 / km) +66m 5:04 / km
ahr:142 max:157 shoes: New Nikes

Hurried up to Kezar where Mikkel was supposed to be waiting.

Short intervals intervals (Repeats) 21:44 [5] 3.2 km (6:47 / km)
ahr:136 max:173 shoes: New Nikes

But Mikkel was a touch late, too. And there were massive masses of triathletes on the track.

We did, at R: 600 + 200 rest + 500 + 300 rest + 400 + 200 rest + 300 + 300 rest + 200 + 200 rest. I felt great. 1:57 97 77 56.5 37.5.

Medium pace running tempo 3:45 [3] 1.0 km (3:45 / km)
ahr:158 max:169 shoes: New Nikes

A finishing T; Mikkel decided to do a finishing I instead, at about 3:32.

Easy running warm up/down 23:31 [1] 3.97 km (5:55 / km)
ahr:137 max:149 shoes: New Nikes

Went home.

Easy running 51:19 [2] 8.82 km (5:49 / km) +162m 5:20 / km
ahr:137 max:147 shoes: (C)Ross Dress Brooks

Another Market St. roundtrip. They were doing some kind of enforcement on the homeless as I got back, but still I almost got peed on my shoe.

Note

A nice rest day. I finished moving: wheeled the giant instrument from the SF storage, and am going to pick up the boxes from the Indiana storage on Monday. Finally, I think, I am all moved in to the city.

Easy running 1:59:56 [2] 21.37 km (5:37 / km) +75m 5:31 / km
ahr:136 max:162 shoes: Road Mizuno

The full Baylands loop. Nice weather, a tad windy. No mud, but plants overgrew parts of the muddy pond loop. There were tiny gooselings and a very pitiful-looking cat.
