Event: Hudson Highlander
Orienteering race 1:02:03 [4] *** 8.79 km (7:04 / km) +435m 5:40 / km
ahr:172 max:186 spiked:17/17c shoes: Road Mizuno
I had originally planned to go to a PCTR run at Nisene Marks, but could not find a ride and the prospect of getting out of the building at 4:10 am and taking four different buses and a cab wasn't particularly exciting. So, I slept in and went to Briones for a BAOC event.
The event was a Scout-O, with regular courses which seemed mostly an afterthought. The Blue was quite Orange. I had no problems and won. Didn't feel much of anything from last weekend's 50-miler.
My HR got sky-high, and stayed there; but, the effort felt easy, just like it would earlier at a HR about 7 bpm lower. I didn't partake in any substaces this morning, unlike on the morning of the max-HR day, so maybe my maximum HR that increases with age is not a fluke.
Oh, and I slid a bit on the dry grass in road shoes. Can't wait for the Inov-8s to arrive.
Note
I think my only goal for Season 2007 is to stay alive.
Well, as long as that part is taken care of, it would be nice to be able to escape the despotic government again, too.
