Event: O in the Oaks IV
Easy running 49:39 [2] 8.82 km (5:38 / km) +162m 5:09 / km
ahr:153 max:166 shoes: Mudclaw 330
A Market St. roundtrip. Haven't had me many of those in a while. Felt like I had to get active once to get rid of the scar tissue and dead mitochondria before the A meet.
Note
I felt not tired afterwards. Like, really not tired.
The race progressed on, and when on Sunday morning I returned to the loop, the weather had changed dramatically. The night was really cold and windy. The winner, Pekka Aalto, covered 201 km in 24 hours. He flew in from HEL on Thursday, ran, got his award, and caught a cab to SFO to go back. Catra Corbett (notice the single last name) won the women's. She also got 103 of 130 fanmail messages that Wendell enabled with the live webcast.
I helped Wendell take down, all the while thinking that I have to do this thing again. Nothing is quite as motivating as first-time failure.
