Orienteering race 1:27:11 [3] *** 9.0 km (9:41 / km) +560m 7:23 / km
ahr:169 max:179 spiked:19/24c shoes: Mudclaw 270

BAOC Club Champs at Tilden. The course was remarkable in that it almost required a lot of stopping and micro map reading in the beginning. Impossible to get a good pace going.

I made a lot of errors, then sped up in the second third (mucho climb, runnable) and slowed down towards the end, not particularly motivated.

Note

THE NETTLE BURN HURTS AH AWWW AWWWWWWW UCK. Not like I hadn't known about the nettles after my GGTC run, so me stupid for not wearing plastic bag-reinforced pants.

Note

I wimped out on all training today, so the week ended up sucking. Sorry all. It rained.

Went to Wells Fargo afterwards.

Easy running 22:04 [1] 3.87 km (5:42 / km) +8m 5:39 / km
ahr:136 max:164 shoes: Road Mizuno

Note

I. Brock, Johnny Marr, and co. preaching to the clueless at the Bill Graham did not exactly sound like this, but was close.

Easy running warm up/down 9:55 [2] 2.01 km (4:56 / km)
ahr:138 max:144 shoes: New Nikes

Warming up at De Anza, with Mikkel. The running technique shifted dramatically compared to last week, in favor of smaller, more frequent steps.

Medium pace running tempo (Threshold intervals) 27:33 [3] 6.04 km (4:34 / km)
ahr:157 max:177 shoes: New Nikes

Kent showed up later. We did 3×(1809 m at T + 202 m rest). 7:01 6:57 6:56; Mikkel pulled ahead on the last one and set the pace a bit fast.

I should have done 4×.

Note

The audiology today was sort of useless because their machine would go all the way to 16 kHz, but the audio tech was only trained up to 8 kHz. He didn't find any hearing loss in the right ear up to 8 kHz, it was all flat at 0 dB.

Note

They drained about 100 ml of blood this morning, too; one vial to look for Lyme residuals, one for cholesterol, and one for general CBC.

Monday Dec 4, 2006 #

Note

The hearing seems better.
