Rogaining (Course setting) 2:51:05 [1] 15.0 km (11:24 / km) +340m 10:15 / km
ahr:128 max:162 shoes: Mudclaw 330 #2

I placed streamers at the site of the Fundraiser's Day 3. Slowed down towards the end, as the control density increased. The map is fine for a Long.

I felt alright; sort of slightly dizzy, slightly uncoordinated, and more than a bit out of touch with the world (made a few navigational mistakes at this pace, but certainly not in control placement). I need to update this entry with more accurate length and climb numbers.

Note

Can't believe flying East took the whole day today.

Easy running warm up/down 10:59 [2] 2.01 km (5:28 / km)
ahr:134 max:141 shoes: New Nikes

Warmed up at De Anza with Mikkel, Tapio, and Kent; the usual crowd. I showed up pretty late, so they started the intervals without me.

Short intervals intervals (Repeats) 22:45 [5] 4.02 km (5:40 / km)
ahr:148 max:175 shoes: New Nikes

Ran 10×(200 m at R + 202 m rest). Having started later, I was also still not feeling 100% (dizzy and funny just after finishing a repeat), so did half of the planned number, some alone.

35.2 38.4 35.4 35.9
34.8 35.5 35.1 36.4
35.1 37.2.

Mikkel did 12×.

Note

Got a Td booster today (it's been 10 years from the memorable VWC'97 opening weekend, and the encounter with the barbed wire—who needs tattoos?) My shoulder hurts.

Ski orienteering race 1:19:31 [2] * 12.61 km (6:18 / km) +150m 5:57 / km
ahr:154 max:166 spiked:9/12c shoes: Rental Ski Boots

I went to the US Ski-O Champs, held by BAOC, only to get a flight into the 25k mile UAL promotion. But, the event did not disappoint. I had not skied for four years. My goal was to be within twice the winning time, and I made it without problems; I could have been about 170% had I not been stupidly insisting on going off-trail, through the woods, and falling and getting consumed by the snow.

I felt just fine throughout the experience. Obviously my upper body muscles were unfit for the uphills, but the technique let me fly downhill.
