Whew! Got a lot of sleep last night, as there were only about 20 maps that got printed on the wrong side of the paper on Thursday and had to be reprinted. I also put out some extras, given the last-minute registrations. The printer cooperated well enough that it was done and idle by the time Alexei showed up, a bit past midnight.

Eric, Alexei, and I drove to the start of the Trials Middle. I helped out with the registration and packed pick-up, then jogged to the finish as a part of my warm-up. I saw a bunch of Trials people finish, and saw that Clem had a good time at about 40 minutes, a minute or so ahead of Eric. I did not notice Eddie's blazing result, although I did see him finish.

Just as I was ready to start my own run, I saw the train of Ross, Erin, and John finish, all with times that seemed beatable.

My own race went well. I almost managed to keep William off my tail, and only made one significant error. I was so busy navigating that I don't remember if the ankle bothered me at all or not.

Note
(injured)

I had planned on a lot of afternoon training (cf. last year's water draggage tickfest), but there was not much to do at Mark's site. He managed to get all advanced sites vetted that I hadn't been to, and planned a final vetting/SI turn-on check for Sunday 6 am, with enough people to cover all sites within an hour and a half or so. So, this afternoon we carried some stuff to the start, and then modified some terrain around ControlĀ 215 (Blue #22, Green X #12) with garden shears, to better match the map.

Tuesday May 1

Note
(injured)

Spent most of non-work-working time on Monday and Tuesday going over Day 3 courses, cutting circles in OCAD and laying out the maps, and getting the maps ready to print.

Sunday Apr 29

Note
(injured)

Spent both Saturday and Sunday assigning start times for the Trials.
