HVO/WCOC Winter Series 5
Muscoot Farm, Red (without stone walls), 6.3km
The sun was shining when I started and it was cloudy when I finished. Temp in the 50s. A super day to be in the woods.
I was a little shaky for about the first three controls, bur fared better after that. No major blunders in any case. Not having stone walls didn't seem to have much impact, thou they may have kept me out of the out-of-bounds on the way to #3. What did help was being able to see some of the controls from far away. This was most helpful was at #12 where I was far to the right, but I could see the flag from more than 100 meters away.
I took a roundabout route to #5. I knew that once I hit the trail on the more direct way, I would just stay on it.
Turns out that all of the stone walls were not removed from the map. There are three ruined walls near #13. Not that were of any help: On the way from #12 to #13 I looked for the first and couldn't find it. Then from #13 to #14 I looked for the second and couldn't find it. When I reached the trail, I looked back and I could just make out the third.
