Blue Mountain Reservation
Brown-1 course. 3.3km, 160m.

Nice day: mid 50s and cloudy.
Started out OK, up to #5. Found a control with the code 135. My control description had #5 as 134 and #6 as 135. The control description was wrong. If I had used my head a little I could have avoided some wasted time.

Mistake #1: "How did I get way over there?"
Mistake #2: If I had checked the description for #6 (knoll) I might have realized that the boulder I was at was the right place.
Mistake #3: Heading east, I came to a trail, but no marsh. That didn't deter me though until I got to the big trail when I finally figured what had happened.

The codes for the next three controls were also wrong. I wasn't fooled again.

OK after #5 , though I left #9 at 90 degrees from what I intended. Not a problem once I realized the mistake.
