Orienteering (pic + direction courses) 54:25 [2] 5.81 km (9:22 / km) +272m 7:35 / km
shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 300 #2

practised downhill running techniques while doing some complicated control description exercise that i still dont understand but somehow still managed to do it better than alex.
picture course was not nice, too many tussocks so could barely run and had to do the course backwards cos alex was doing it forward (not happy about that) which meant my first control was straight up the hill. learned on that course that dan cant navigate (sorry dan) but he can definitely run, also crunched my ankle near the end but ran it off on the path on the way back.
direction course wasn't too bad, ambled around it with daisy while we complained the whole time about how tired we were and how we didn't want to do the score, was also very hungry and didnt complete the course cos lunch > running.

Orienteering (45 min score) 42:13 [3] 5.03 km (8:24 / km) +188m 7:04 / km
shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 300 #2

very tiring, went round with emma and daisy and i think we made a pretty good route by stopping still at the start and planning before running off. bit slow to begin with on the hills but gained speed along some of the paths especially at the end, emma decided to be a bit of a meanie and ran off halfway through leaving me and daisy behind for a few minutes but mine and daisys elite route choice (+ emmas bad nav skills) meant we caught her up at the next control. absolutely pegged it to the last control cos we weren't sure if we'd have time (rip to daisys ankle) but my genius decision to crawl through the dog gate at the end meant i didnt have to climb up the stile and waste more time - probably the fastest ive ever ran at a training session ngl but it was very fun

Running hills 28:25 [2] 4.71 km (6:02 / km)
shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 300 #2

the jog there was more tiring than the actual hill reps, felt sick while running probably cos it was not long after lunch but felt better when we got there. let’s just say i never ever want to see myself run again, don’t know why but seeing myself on camera is just weird, but definitely good to actually see how to improve my technique
need to work on moving my arms more while going up the hill but apparently my athletics background has helped me look in control while running so at least i look in control from the outside even if i don’t actually feel in control
3 PM

S&C (plyometrics) 40:00 [1]

funniest part was definitely making eye contact with emma while doing the funny stretches at the start, definitely need to work on my balance cos i cant stand on one leg without falling over, but my vertical jumping is pretty sick. need to do this stuff more often so hopefully it can strengthen my ankles

Running 34:01 [2] 5.11 km (6:39 / km) +47m 6:22 / km
shoes: Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 37

with emma and daisy round cockermouth, had no clue where we were going so just followed them. emma got in a mood about having to carry the torch and refused to turn it on even when it was dark and we couldn't see where we were going so thanks for that. probably quite good that daisy was leading the run as it meant we actually ran up all the hills unlike me and emma every wednesday

Orienteering (night o and wd) 26:09 [2] 3.54 km (7:23 / km) +18m 7:12 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 CL

very short and easy course, along paths to begin with which still confused me idk how but i managed it in the end, thought the wind was gonna blow me over at one point but i survived. all was going well till the course entered the long reeds that were basically as tall as me tho that’s not hard, so very slow through those controls and consistently high as well so may need to work on that, got overtaken by big stu on the run in which is quite embarrassing

Running 39:49 [2] 6.0 km (6:38 / km) +79m 6:14 / km
shoes: Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 37

enrichment run with emma, we’re stupid and couldn’t remember what distance we needed to do so just settled for 6k, like always i had no idea where i was going and just followed emma. had to go pretty quickly (compared to usual so still slow) so that we could go home and do the maths challenge which i failed miserably but it’s fine. walked the massive hill cos we didn’t have daisy there to make us run it but the rest of the run felt good
8 PM

Football 1:00:00 [2]

1hr session but watch said only moving for 20 minutes, a lot of skill work today, very cold and some of the exercises were confusing but i managed in the end, sad about not being able to play this weekend cos it’s our first game in the new home kit but oh well. still thinking over some of the maths challenge questions in my head which is probably why my football was appalling (well that’s what i’m blaming my bad footwork on)

S&C (core work) 1:00:00 [1]

first in a while, started from the basics again so felt quite easy, might have to make it slightly harder next time, still can’t do planks so nothing new there but adding the medicine ball to the russian twists felt good so will definitely keep doing that. actually quite missing indoor athletics training with the medicine balls, but definitely not missing getting the ball dropped on you by incapable children and you can’t force me to go back and suffer with dylan so gonna stick to TNT instead. next week is technical work so looking forward to that.
