XC Skiing (LL to Banff Loppet) 6:39:00 [3] 72.0 km (5:33 / km)

EXACTLY the same time as 2011, to the minute. Slow, slow, slow, but I stayed upright except for one minor bail. This is a HUGE improvement for me, so I am very excited about that. I was certainly in the tail end of the pack, though.

This remains one of my favourite races. And now I am trashed!

**Actually, not quite at the tail end. Results show me 6th out of 11!

Very crappy conditions at the nordic centre but I still managed a loop before my lesson. The wind almost blew us over and the red wax was barely gripping.

Cruisy powerhike up Sulphur Mtn with Alan, Chelsea, Stephanie, Suzy, Kim, Claire, Jen and Doone. Yes, we were quite the good sized group.

Instead of running down, we made the most of deep fresh snow and butt-slid down the shoots. Super fun.

Cold though....-18.

Snagmore, Boundary Ridge, Ranger Ridge, Sugar Mama. Super great loop. Legs were trashed from yesterday's Prairie-fest. Great to get out for a longish run on a spectacular day though. I have never seen the mountain trails in such great shape in January. We are lucky lucky people.

Prairie Mountain x2. I seem to have maintained all my uphill power from the cycling but have lost ALL my downhill grace. Great winter conditions on Prairie. Not much snow, super warm in the trees and REALLY blowy on the summit ridge.

I'm getting close to being happy about being back in Canada. Very close.
