Yoga 20:00 [1]

Another pitiful effort at yoga yesterday. The surfing was more appealing so I gave up after 20 mins and hit the water.

Road Biking 2:10:00 [4] 55.0 km (25.4 kph)

Today I did the "tour de hills" without actually going to the hills:
Ewan St, Reaboth, Mount St, KP loop, and the unavoidable finish at the Karrinyup water tower. Was only going to ride for just over an hour but got a little carried away because I was enjoying myself so much. Except for the part when I got passed by a runner doing repeats up Mount St. I said, "gee, this is embarrasing" as he ran up next to me, and he tried to humour me by replying, "nah, it's hard riding up this hill on a time trial bike", and then blew by me. I wish I was just a normal person who would happily agree with him, but no, I'm a silly competitive girl who knows that it's just not cool to be EVER passed by someone running when you are biking and then make excuses!!

I made up for it by dropping a couple of guys who tried to catch me in KP. Dang it....I'm starting to act like tRicky now.

Running 50:00 [4] 10.5 km (4:46 / km)

4 x 4 min hard effort w/ 2 min rest. 15 min warm up and cool down.

Legs felt a bit shattered today.

Crossfit/Gym/Weights/Core 10:00 [1]

Pitiful effort at some core exercises. I'm definitely feeling off my game today. I feel like sleeping forever, but instead, I go to work.

Road Biking 2:55:00 [3] 90.0 km (30.9 kph)

Whooohoooo......if I had wings, I would have flown. Mandurah back to Karryinup with the tailwind. Definitely a sweet reward for Monday's sufferfest. From the bottom of the freeway to Leach Hwy, I sat in my aerobars and just hammered......it was SO MUCH FUN. I'll be smiling all night at work.

Talking of which, after an impressive 3.5 weeks of my new 'career' as a waitress, I've decided to quit and go back to teaching (well, relief teaching anyway). 5pm-2am shifts are not conducive to making the most of early morning bunch riding, Toomey's run training, or orienteering events....so, I'm going to do a couple more weeks and then pull the pin in time for the Upside Down rogaine.

Note

I spent the WHOLE day introducing my 3 young nieces to Adventure World. I'm not prepared to log it as training, but boy, I hiked up some stairs today. I'm not sure how many times I heard, "again, again, again" and then had to traipse up to the top of the 'waterslide mountain' carrying everyone's tubes and mats.

A fun day in the sun and I am STUFFED!

Road Biking 4:05:00 [3] 90.0 km (22.0 kph)

An appaulingly slow bike ride from Karryinup to Mandurah this afternoon. Definitely a heart-breaker, as I rode into the southerly wind the WHOLE way and my legs were tired from yesterday's race. It's a ride that will go into the mental bank that can be pulled out at some stage when I'm suffering in an AR....I'll think to myself, "well, at least it's not as bad as that day I rode 90km continuously into a headwind".

The last 20km along south west hwy did my head in a bit too, with the constant stream of cars and trucks whizzing by at 120km per hour. The freeway bikepath from the narrows to Baldivis was awesome, though.

I'm looking forward to the return trip on Wednesday when i get blown back to Perth in probably half the time.

Triathlon 1:08:00 [5]

Waikiki Triathlon. 4th place age group (out of 19)
I had a suprisingly awesome race day, with faster times than I expected of myself after little specific speed work of recent and only 2.5 hours of sleep beforehand.

750m swim: 12:28, no wetsuit. Had a solid swim in rough water. Swam on feet the whole way and hammered along.

20 km bike: 35:17 (34km/hr average). Felt good on the bike and for the first time EVER I was not passed by a single female. I actually enjoyed the sprint ride too as I was comfortable in the aero, pushed hard into the wind and then enjoyed the supersweet tailwind back into transition.

5km run: 20:46 (4:09). It actually didn't feel that fast but it seems that I was running well despite my impression.

Unfortunately, I couldn't hold onto the 3rd place girl who passed me in the last kilometer and finished just 21 seconds up ahead of me. 1st place was just over 3 minutes ahead and she had it all on me in the bike (like usual). Missed out on the 6-pack of beer that they were handing out as place prizing.....only in australia....
