XC Skiing 2:10:00 [3] 18.0 km (7:13 / km)

PLPP - Whiskey Jack, Tywhitt, Elk Pass, Fox Creek, Moraine.
The trails are in pretty good condition, although not as nice as Saturday. The snow is getting a bit old and there was quite a bit of debris in the tracks. The tracks were FAST!

Time is a guess. There was a lot of lolligagging. I was slow on the downhills, as usual.

Skied on my new waxless skis. We went to rent from Trail Sports for John and mirculously, I walked out with my own pair too. They are definitely entry-level draggy, but I already love them because I feel like I can control the clunkers better than I can my lightweight racing skis. I have decided that drag is good. It makes me work harder on the ups and flats and it gives me more stability on the downs. Although I am still soooooo intimidated by any kind of speed.

The Tywhitt meadows were incredibly sparkly and gorgeous.

XC Skiing (XC Classic) 3:20:00 [3] 30.0 km (6:40 / km) +700m 5:58 / km

An absolutely glorious ski day, although a teeny bit cold for this aussie girl. It was -15 when we started and it didn't warm up higher than -10 except for a few spots of sunbathed goodness. I started out with 3 layers of blue extra and covered it with green. I ended up re-waxing with VR40 three more times. I definitely need to go buy those waxless skis. Tomorrow, maybe.

The plan was to do the full Cookie Race loop out at Pocaterra with Miles. It was so beautiful out there today and we got going early enough (by 9:45 am) that we missed all the crowds and mostly skied completely alone in the wonderland.

I was having some grip issues and then I got a big blister on top of my foot, right at the crease of my kick. It tore open on the climb up Whiskey Jack and so I decided to bail from the top of the hill back to the warming hut. Miles ended up doing the whole loop + bonus Blueberry Hill.

I have to admit, the blister came at just the right time. I think a full Cookie Loop for my 2nd ski in two years was a little too much. My optimism is a good problem to have.

I hate to say it but I'm a bit bummed I'm going to miss 5 weeks of skiing while I am in Australia. Another good problem to have.

Hill training/Scrambling/Hiking 1:15:00 [3] 7.0 km (10:43 / km) +700m 7:09 / km

Late evening Prairie Mountain. Possibly one of my fastest descents ever. The mountain is returned to the condition I like the best - completely snow covered.
