Switched long run to today, went for a walk with Rosie and Alf earlier and drove on run route to check it out, it was a ice rink.

Ran out along the river all the way onto the estuary, weather was glorious and the water was perfectly still, not seen it like that before. Pleased with my route choice.

Legs feeling a bit tired but coped with the time/distance fine.

Road run with Rosie. Easy effort on the road with the odd icey section. Ran 4 strides in second half, legs heavy and pretty unresponsive. Felt like a recovery run.

Moderate run around the bypass and through town. Run went well, pace felt comfortable and relaxed. Took 20 mins to warm up, couldn't get core warm although legs were fine. Pretty cold breeze blowing. Started snowing after 50 mins, which I rather enjoyed. Little bit of tiredness crept into hamstrings towards the end, but could have been the weather.

Got a Alf free day so went for a run with Rosie before coffee in Keswick. Easy loop up and round Latrigg. Cut through the woods on a direct line to the top on the Latrigg fell race route. Purely to avoid the crowds. Treated to an inversion sitting over Keswick and Derwent. Dropped down the far side and back through the woods. Planned hill sprints on way back but couldn't find any un-icey ground.

Went up High Pike to give myself a bit of a fell fix. Easy outing in the snow and the weather played ball. Cold but fantastic views. Really noticed the progression I've made so far. Easily ran the while thing in 24 mins without trouble, my best effort is 21 mins when I've buried myself.

Trail (Easy + strideouts) 58:00 [3] 10.33 km (5:37 / km) +131m 5:17 / km
slept:10.0

A double figure sleep has made a massive difference. Feel like I've recovered after yesterday's run fairly well. Run home from brother's house (work) along Hadrian's wall path, same route as usual. Basically a mix of road, poached fields and paths.

Legs felt good, a little heavy but strong. Leg turn over seemed quicker after session yesterday. Seems ages since I've ran anything under 4min/km. Almost like it has freshened legs up.

Got stopped for a few mins by a hairy hostile dog that wouldn't let me down a lane. Spent a while trying to make friends with it as it barked and growled at me before the owner looked round the corner. Only ran strideouts on road section, they were good.

Planned to run session in the morning but slept badly and struggled with a headache all morning. Went back to bed for 30 mins at 12 and went out at 2. Legs still feeling quite heavy to start with but they loosened up for the session.

Picked a dead flat, dead straight road 20 mins from home. Session went well, hit the paces pretty comfortably. Had some issues with GPS signal at same point each rep as was running through tall trees either side of road and it took a couple of reps to realise it was slowing pace down on that section. Legs started to tighten in hamstrings towards the end of 20 min cool down but it was absolutely baltic when sun went in and just in shorts and long sleeve top.
