Fell (Uphill Tempo) 57:00 [4] 8.35 km (6:50 / km) +485m 5:17 / km
slept:7.5 shoes: Saucony Peregrine ST 2

Uphill tempo on High Pike. Parked at Netherrow and jogged down the road to wam up and add another 1km and +70m climbing. Effort was pretty good, a touch hard if anything but I did try and hold back when breathing got ragged. Sat on the bench for a few mins and watched sunset before jogging down. Shin was grand, felt it for 20" of entire run. Lifting toes while driving back made it a bit angry. Massage, voltarol and compression when home.

Road/trail (Easy) 44:00 [1] 7.55 km (5:50 / km) +47m 5:39 / km
slept:8.0 shoes: Saucony Peregrine ST

Easy run at lunch. Shin a bit bothersome without being painful. Kept it very gentle. Loop around Burgh marsh and back along the road.

Treadmill (Hill Reps) 1:10:00 [4] 12.1 km (5:47 / km) +660m 4:33 / km
slept:6.3 shoes: Nike Pegasus

20 easy | 3 x 1 mile @ 8% & 4:26/km | 15 easy

Woke up with a tender shin, it's been fine for a few weeks but reappeared. Bit of self massage and manipulation seemed to help. Can't run my thumb along edge of shin bone, it's just gone tight. Set off and decided to stop if it bothered me. It didn't. Didn't even think about it. Reps were good, felt stronger than last week.

Shin was tender for 30 mins post run, then settled. Messaged Dan for an appointment. Doesn't feel like anything other than fascia type issue.

Road (Hill sprints) 45:00 [3] 8.5 km (5:18 / km) +82m 5:03 / km
slept:6.0 shoes: Nike Pegasus 36

Planned an early morning run but Alf woke up at 3am and I was still awake when my alarm went off at 5am. Got another hours sleep and then ran on the road at lunch. Sprints were pretty promising, felt fresher than I have recently. They improved as went along.

Trail (Moderate) 59:30 [3] 12.2 km (4:53 / km) +39m 4:48 / km
slept:8.5 shoes: Saucony Peregrine ST 2

Moderate down the river. Happy with this one. Felt relaxed and in control. Pace is deceiving as there were 30odd stiles gates and streams to get over/round/through. Probably cruising along around 4:20-30/km off road.

Trail (Easy + strideouts) 54:00 [2] 9.47 km (5:42 / km) +81m 5:28 / km
slept:7.3 shoes: Saucony Peregrine ST

Contemplated a trip to High Pike for an easy run. Rosie even suggested it separately from me thinking it. Decided against it in the end, had a bit of a tight calf and had a fair spike in elevation this week so a third day in a row seemed excessive.

Down the river with the dog. Freezing cold! Strideouts were okay, everything felt good. Just not much pace.

Fell (SE) 1:55:00 [3] 15.6 km (7:22 / km) +795m 5:52 / km
slept:5.3 shoes: Inov8 xtalon 255

4:30 alarm. Legs pretty tired straight away after yesterday. Parked at fell side and headed up High Pike with my brother and the dogs. Cold wind straight in our faces all the way up. Caught the sunrise and an inversion over the Solway, well worth the early rise. Knott and Brae fell were in the clag so we hooked left to Carrock and back along the miners track to Fellside. A bit longer than planned but generally easy running.
