Swimming 30:00 [3]

Lots of swimming today, first 3 long laps in the sweet-water pool which still felt so cold when getting in.
Then, in the afternoon, we headed to the "real" beach with black lava-sand and I swam far out against the tide coming in, then letting myself carry back in with the tide. So much fun. But not much to see in the water except small fish and a few sea urchins.
Quite choppy water though.

Running 54:55 [3] 6.13 km (8:58 / km) +106m 8:15 / km
ahr:121 max:158

First run in a while. Getting out before breakfast and following the pedestrian trail (mostly paved) in and out of streambeds which most often end with a lava-sand beach. Exploratory run and did end quite a few times into dead-ends as I was searching for a possibility as close to the ocean as possible. Tried not to push hard but just enjoy the morning atmosphere and light. Lots of people out jogging, walking their dogs or speed-walking, locals as well as mostly tourists.
Felt good doing it and didn't hurt my lungs much. Already about 23 degrees warm; comfortable temperature.

Swimming 20:00 [2] 0.5 km (40:00 / km)

Enjoyed the pools and did 3 loops in the saltwater pool which has a huge rounded triangular shape and also 3 loops in the cold sweet water pool which is also shaped like an 8 with an island in the middle and a bridge.
From the upper saltwater pool there is a waterfall to the sweetwater below, but I guess its not salty water they're using .
It cleaned out my sinuses pretty well. And had a little more energy for swimming today than 2 days ago.

Hiking 1:58:27 [1] 6.84 km (17:19 / km) +27m 16:59 / km

An easy (recovery) hike to a lighthouse along the coast. All in volcanic rocks but on a pretty nice trail. Nice outing.
I'm still fighting this head cold which is worst when I wake up and takes about 30 min to clear my sinuses and lungs. The cough has been lingering for almost 3 weeks now, getting better for a while, but now it's back with a deep cough. Need to watch it so it doesn't turn into a pneumonia.
So, it means that I don't have my normal energy level and things are slower than usual. I couldn't get myself running either, just don't feel like it.
Still enoying our vacation in a place for the "priviledged" with pools and everything. Usually not my kind of place, but for the moment just the right thing.

Hiking 3:58:37 [3] 11.27 km (21:11 / km) +677m 16:17 / km
ahr:105 max:141

Hike up near Mount Teide (who is the highest there, old volcano at 3700 m). We started on the big plains of the ancient cauldron and went up to the rim. It was much longer than the book said and part of the trail was really tough. But the weather up there was gorgeous, blue sky and great sunshine in the middle of all that lavaflow with rocks and outcroppings that are just so jaggy and bizarre.
Amazingly, all around this high area of volcanic mountains, the island (Tnerife) was surrounded by huge clouds which formed a collar and looked very threatening. But they did not rise to our level, and I guess further down at the Atlantic, the sun was out all day as well.

Walking 44:23 [1] 1.91 km (23:13 / km) +38m 21:07 / km

We arrived on Tenerife and were exploring our neighborhood a bit.

Also did some swimming, first in the warm (heated) salt water pool, then in the cold sweet water pool where I had to swim fast and long to keep warm.

Mountain Biking 46:57 [0] 10.44 km (4:30 / km) +233m 4:03 / km

Easy bike ride as I still feel very tired, especially no energy in my leg muscles. So I biked to Peseux to buy tulip bulps, then over to Sandra and Marc's house to plant flowers which stay pretty throughout winter and, of course, a ton of bulps for spring. The weather was wonderful, blue sky and very sunny but an icy North wind made it all uncomfortable. Yet, I had to do it today, as tomorrow we have the grandkids til Wed lunch and in the eve travelling to ZH then to Teneriffe :-).
