The snow is back! Not much but at least enough that the tracks were groomed. Went up towards the Creux-du-Van for the second to last control marker. It was icy cold out today with a very strong north-easterly wind. But to my surprise, in the parking lot it was quite "balmy" at -5 degrees and no wind. So didn't put on all of my stuff. But when I put on my shoes, I realised that I had brought the wrong shoes, 2 left ones in different sizes (38 and 42!). Hmm, didn't want to abandon my plan and it was a 40 min-drive from home. So I tried to fit in the big left shoe into the binding and it worked. So I skies with 2 lefties, one fitted and the other on the right too big. This was no problem uphill. Went all the way to the SAC hut at the highest point where the strong, icy wind hit me. So I turned and went back down. But now, I had no controll nor guidance my my right, big (left)big shoe. So I eased around the left turns as slowly as I could, but at one point that ski just left the tracks straight ahead into the deeper snow. Nice faceplant! Though slow, I had fun even though I seem to have a few very lethargic days with no motivation.
