The cantonal O-championships of our club. As usual, couldn't push as hard as I'd wished and it showed. Then, I also picked up Matti in the woods who was pretty much distressed about things (controls hidden, trail blocked), so we finished together and he calmed down a bit.
Still enjoyed myself, it was a nice little course but I have become terrible at going across the woods with lots of downfall, thorns and debris. Oh well.
And yes, Matti was right, for an 8-year-old boy who is actually quite a good map reader already but running in the M10 class, many controls were a bit off the trail and some were in the green and almost hidden. And a road was closed due to wood cutting but it was Sunday and of course, it was allowed to pass, but Matti didn't know that. Orienteering and sport in general provide really hard life lessons sometime.
