Orienteering (25500) 2:55:00 [2]***
I was meet director today, and it was a Score-O, so I didn't get to run. I volunteered to do control pickup so that I'd have a chance to get some orienteering in. I ended up picking up about 2/3 of the controls (18), which was fun, but tiring with all of the e-punch boxes and stands. Oh, I also fell in a lake. I thought the log I was about to step on was solid, but it was actually floating, so it sank and rotated, and I fell in. Not fun.

This park isn't well mapped (90% of the vegetation isn't mapped), so accessing controls the quickest way involved some dumb luck.

Eric helped with the other controls.

Softball 1:15:00 [2]
Thursday game with the co-ed team. I played short for an inning and pitched three. We won 14-9, thanks to a 6-run last inning (where surprisingly, I didn't get to bat in). I did have an inside-the-park homerun, the second of my career. It was a close play at the plate. I would have been out had I not slid! Ryan from KU won the game ball, and we all went out for pizza afterward.

Mapping/Designing/Setting 1:40:00 [1]**
I started checking out the western half of Woodland Park for my summer mapping project.I circumnavigated the zoo, seeing what all was eligible for an o-meet around it.... which got me thinking about a) an o-meet in the zoo, and b) a crazy sprint tournament, like what BAOC is doing next week.

Softball 2:30:00 [2]
Two games of softball tonight. The first was with my team, and started as catcher. Mike was pitching really well, so he pitched an inning longer than planned. I pitched the final three innings and allowed zero runs! At the plate, I was 3 for 4. We won 13-5 and are now 3-0 in the league.

One of the teams in the late game (the team we beat last week) needed two extra guys so Patrick and I stayed and subbed for them. This game pitted the two winless teams together. I started out at second, but after the starting pitcher allowed 9 runs while only recording one out, their manager put me in. I threw another three scoreless innings while our bats tied the score at 9. However, my last inning was rough (the blinding sun had set at this point) and they scored 5. We lost 14-12. at the plate, I think I was 2 for 3. I don't remember.

Great great weather!
