| Orienteering 5:49:00 [3]** 12.7 mi (27:29 / mi) | ||
| shoes: Vasque Lightspeed | ||
| I don't have a distance yet. And I want to go to bed soon.
T5T style... 1) Rogaining in forested areas is 30 times harder. (How do I use a compass again?) 2) My orienteering shoes aren't as durable as I thought. 3) Our initial route had a flawed first leg, and we paid for it the rest of the way. 4) There were guys with guns, shooting (illegally) in our general direction. I was a little scared. 5) Mike and I really had a good time messing with a rookie team at control 33. UPDATE: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=1038454

| Note | ||
| Last night felt good! I'm used to staying up late with Gina or going to the pub with the roomies. I'm used to having some sort of sport or activity after work.
Last night, I got home, went upstairs, watched a few episodes of Seinfeld, and fell asleep. And woke up 12 hours later. I feel so refreshed, finally. Even though it was almost two weeks ago, doing Big Muddy, followed by two 13-hour work days... I still hadn't recovered yet, sleepwise.
| Note | ||
| My summer fitness isn't on a very good pace so far. Last year, I was playing ultimate every week, but those folks are up in Everett. I haven't played ultimate since I took the new job. | ||
| Softball 1:15:00 [2] | ||
| Thursday co-ed team, we played the undefeated #1 team, and we beat them in extra innings, 13-12!!!!!
My 11-at-bat hitting streak ended... and I didn't fare too well overall. AB #1: single up the middle, advanced to 3rd, forced out at home AB #2: sharp grounder to around 2nd base area. Shortstop made a fielding error. I ended up scoring. AB #3: line drive, caught by pitcher. I pitched the 5th through 8th innings, allowing only 3 runs, with 2 scoreless innings. I allowed one homerun, which was on a pitch that I made a mistake on. That same batter was my last out of the game, coming with 2 outs and bases loaded. Whew! I had planned on getting to the park early and running some O', but I got sidetracked at work.

| Volleyball 1:45:00 [2] | ||
| Finally, some volleyball again!
I was really rusty on my passes and sets, but my serves and spikes weren't too bad. I also worked on my jump serve some, too. Lots of inexperienced intern teams at open gym tonight, so there was a lot of goofing around. We'll see how the league goes when it starts up next week. It'll also be interesting because I organized a team of six.. and the league is just for fours...

| Softball 1:15:00 [2] | ||
| Game 6 of the year. We tied 14-14. We were down 6 runs going into the bottom of the last inning, and we managed to storm back and tie it, thanks to 3 homeruns (we'd only managed 1 all season prior). We had the winning run on 1st with 1 out... couldn't get him home.
I was 4-4 hitting, so that was good. I did a decent job of pitching, given the circumstances (windy + a team that never swung at the first pitch). We're still in first place, though now we're tied. We went 0-1-1 against the other two good teams, and there's a logjam at the top of the standings. Our final four games of the season are all winnable.
