| 1) I may get an unexpected day off work on Saturday because the databases are being upgraded.
2) There's an o-meet that's just been added on August 4th, which happens to be on my scheduled weekend off! It's an 11-km course out near Cle Elum. 3) Peter and Madelaine are coming out here that weekend, too, but not in time for the meet. 4) Eric pitched an idea to me about getting Cascade involved in organizing a summer sprint series (since we already have a winter series and the ultimate series in the spring). This is something that I've wanted to see happen for about a year now, and maybe now with Eric's help, we can make it happen. We also talked about having a mapping/course-setting workshop, and tying that in with getting beginner mappers to help map sprint-o venues. 5) I've got some plans in work for a sprint-o tournament, tentatively dubbed "Seattle Sprint-O Spectacular", to be held on the Woodland Park / West Woodland, and Green Lake Park maps I need to stitch together and update. I think it would be a lot of fun. I already have a t-shirt designed for it, too! Maybe this could be a kick-off event for the summer sprint series next summer? | ||

| The team played two games, but I only played one.
The manager didn't have enough girls there, so we had to play only 8 in the field (2 short). As a pitcher, this was a disaster. Disaster. We got killed. Plus, we had to take an automatic out in the 9th spot in the lineup. So that hurt us. Batting-wise, I was 2-for-3, breaking my hiting streak after 12 at-bats. My non-hit was a line-drive not high enough over the pitcher's arms. His glove tipped it and slowed it enough for them to get our runner out at 2nd. Bummer. Between games, a ton of people showed up, so we had 16 on the roster, including 2 other pitchers. Shannon also put me batting 16th in the lineup. I didn't want to bat 16th, and I didn't want to pitch just a few innings, so I went home. I'm glad I had that opportunity, because I *really* needed to catch up on sleep. I was in bed by 7:30. | ||

| First doubleheader of the second season, and we split. We won against the gimme team, 19-1, and we lost against a middle-of-the-pack team by a couple of runs. We were missing three of our better fielders, and it showed.
I played 3rd base during the first game, where I made two nice plays and one error. I pitched half of the second game, and I got rocked, allowing 13 runs in 3 innings. At the plate, I was as good as can be: 10-10. | ||
