| Field Crumpets (not Soccer)
I thought I might go another year without playing, but Madelaine gave me the heads up that there was a game on Sunday afternoon at JCCC, so Gina and I played. There were eight of us total (Robbie, Mel, Madelaine, Dan, Gina, and me, and two people I didn't know beforehand). We played two games, and my team lost the first 10-6 and won the second 10-5 or so. I hadn't played in two years, so I was really rusty. My brain knew exactly what to do, but my body couldn't execute. My strength has always been scoring/offense, and although I got my share of goals (7 over two games), I missed tons of shots, made poor passes, received passes only to have them stolen, etc. etc. My defense, especially in stick-throwing, was actually very good. This was the first time I can ever remember where my offense was a liability, and not the other way around. Still, it was fun to go out there and swing a stick, and for Gina to get her first crumpets experience. And if you have no idea what I'm talking about... www.fieldcrumpets.com

| I ran the "pre-Possum" course as my usual role of OK beta-tester while home for Thanksgiving. I guess you could say that I ran the pre-pre-Possum course.
Gina and I were going to originally run this on Wednesday, but the nasty weather delayed us until we headed into Lawrence again. We almost spent too much time dilly-dallying earlier in the day... I didn't start until 3:30pm, and Gina cut her run a little short to make sure that she made it before it got too dark. Spike had taped the entire course, and they were mostly very visible, to the point where I didn't lose much time compared to flags. I didn't quite run at race pace, and I made three mistakes totaling about 3 minutes. One of the mistakes I'll chalk up to trying to find tapes w/out control codes. Another was just lack of focus... I cut in too early. I nav'ed the rest ok, but my route wasn't as efficient. And the biggest mistake came when I tried to run aggressive since I know this area well, and, well, I convinced myself that I was somewhere that I wasn't... just because I thought I knew it that well. Ha! I made a few micro-route choices that I think weren't ideal, but I'm not going to complain about it. The grass is still not cut, and it actually was a lot faster than I thought it was going to be. No troubles at all. In fact, since I ran just before sunset, the tallgrass areas were quite beautiful. I had a really good time out there.

| OK, call me lame, but I'm going to log this....
I spent lots of time with a map at Disney's Animal Kingdom, Epcot, and Magical Kingdom, but none of it was training-worthy until we got to MGM. MGM was our last stop, and we only had a few hours to see everything. Gina, Scott, Beth, and I were watching the 8:00pm Fantasia performance, which was on one side of the park. Gina and I wanted to catch the final Indiana Jones live show at 8:45pm, which was on the other side of the park. As soon as Mickey defeated the dragon thing at the end at 8:29pm, we got up, but because there were tons of people there, it took forever to get out to the main street area. And then we sprint-orienteered our way through the crowds over to Indiana Jones. And then we nav'ed our way over to the Star Wars ride ASAP after that. And then we met up with Scott and Beth, and we wanted to hit up the final two rides (back over on the Fantasia side of the park), so we sprint-nav'ed our way back over there again. Running. With a map. I'm logging it.
