Ultimate 1:00:00 [1]

Tossing the disc around with Gina at the Pinehurst playground. We played an accuracy tossing drill for a long while, and then some quick release catch-throw practice, and then some long distance heaves.

Note

I imported my GPS route onto RouteGadget for the long at Team Trials so you can see the "dot race" between Alex and me.

Softball 1:20:00 [1]

Loss, 34-8.

Scored 5 runs in the 1st, and then that was it. The other team killed us with 2-out rallies. In the 4th inning, they broke open a 6-6 tie by scoring 9 runs with 2 outs. The most frustrating thing is that Mike tagged out a runner at home that would have been the 3rd out-- still a tie game-- but the ump called the runner safe. Mike is not a sporty guy, so I think the ump gave the runner the benefit of the doubt. But I was right there and the runner didn't know where home was, so even though his footwork looked good, he missed the plate by a foot. And then in the last inning, they pounded in another 14 runs, with likely 10+ of them coming with 2 outs.

Pitching: 3 innings, 15 runs. One fielding play.
Fielding: 3 innings at 1st base. I got a grounder, but was pretty far from the bag. I tried a headfirst dive to the bag to get the guy, but the ump said he was safe. Not worth all of the dirt in my pants.
Batting: 4-for-4 with 4 singles, 2 RBI, 1 run scored. Despite not having gone to the cages, I'm 11-for-11 this season with 10 singles and a double. Of those 11 hits, only 2 of them have been nice solid swings. The other 9 have been dinky floaters just over the infield.

Volleyball 2:00:00 [2]

1 win, 5 losses

We played extremely well over the first four games. We actually should have won three of them. Our opponents came back from 20-24 and 17-23 deficits to win. To their credit, they actually won those games... we didn't choke them away like you might think. One of those losses was to a top-3 team.

And then we looked horrible against the best team in the league. Ugh.

Ever since Team Trials, my volleyball has been on fire. Funny how that good orienteering race on Sunday carried over to volleyball, of all things!
