Street Scramble race 3:01:32 [4] 16.0 mi (11:21 / mi)

Gig Harbor Street Scramble with Mike. 15.97 miles, 26 checkpoints, 92 seconds late. 700 total points, which puts us in 2nd place overall (don't know yet). Lost about a minute at one when we overran a street junction. Everything else was solid. Again, just like last time, I can't find a better route that gets us more points (just other alternatives that get the same points, but faster). We just needed to finish on time!

Note

Street Scramble tomorrow!

I'm teaming with Mike, who I've done 58 hours of rogaining with, but never any Street Scrambles. Should be an interesting time!

Thursday May 21

Softball 1:15:00 [1]

Loss 21-7. My 11-for-11 streak to start the season is over. I was 2-for-4 tonight. Blah. I pitched 3 innings, which was average. I made one fielding play for an out (G1-5).

Tuesday May 19

Volleyball 2:00:00 [3]

Volleyball, 1 win, 5 losses.

Lost twice to the good team, split with the bad team, two close losses against the most fun team.

I played really well. I had some great hits, mostly decent passing, good sets when I needed to. I missed two serves and a few hits.

It's really weird that the catalyst for my recent volleyball improvement came from my long run at Team Trials.

Note

Six kids in "math club" today. As soon as I gave them the o' maps, they all ran out of the room, completely skipping the start triangle. I found the four boys at #1, and 3 of them correctly headed off to #2, and another said that they were wrong and headed over to where #11 was. We never saw him again. The remaining three boys actually did a really good job.

When we got back to the classroom, the two girls were there, the teacher said that they had no idea what they were doing, so they came back. I wouldn't be surprised if they smoked pot again before class, so they were completely confused again...

Dave set up the course while I instructed the kids. Dave mishung a few flags, but within view of the correct feature. Can't blame him, though, it was his first time, too.
