Orienteering 43:00 [4] 4.7 km (9:09 / km) +190m 7:37 / km

After a cosy night's stay in a gorgeous mountain cottage with view of forest and mountain (I'm being spoilt) we headed back up to Cap de Rec for the second day of orienteering.
I'd stuck my foot in a marsh toward the end of yesterday's race and painfully bent my knee joint backwards (the same weak old left knee) so I was very glad not to feel it.
The orienteering went a whole lot better today. Only a couple of 30 second mistakes, although I was 7 minutes behind Anna Garin and Marianne Riddervold. I was struggling physically, so maybe I'm not as fit as I thought. Or maybe it's the altitude hmmm....
Went to Barcelona in the afternoon - wicked!

Today might have been a catastrophe orienteering-wise, but the fact that it was a surprise weekend in an amazing location makes my navigational incompetence forgettable. Matthias' surprise weekend has been a while in the planning... little did I know that we'd be flying to Perpignan, getting in a hire car, driving across the Spanish border into an amazing Pyrenean village called Lles and doing an event on an area that could have been landscaped for orienteering. Very cool!
It was also at altitude (well over 2000m) so I'll use this as an excuse that I couldn't breathe and my brain wasn't functioning. Over 20 minutes of errors. Oh dear.

12 x 3 minute intervals with 1 min jog recovery, 5 minutes warm up and down either end. Mostly in terrain / soft paths (Meudon).
