Orienteering (turf) 3:29:21 [2] 13.16 km (15:54 / km) +40m 15:40 / km

Swings and roundabouts

Losses: Falkiirk Wheel, Helix & Kelpies, 40% of Callendar Park

Gains: Carronshore (including the only three neutral zones left in Falkirk) and a sizeable slice of Larbert.

Retook Helix & Kelpies en-route, only to lose it again to a drive-by.

Orienteering (turf) 2:44:11 [2] 12.17 km (13:29 / km) +60m 13:10 / km

Join the dots session, filling in the gaps on my card.

Eastern Camelon, Bainsford, F&C Canal to the Helix, then back through Ladysmill.

Currently holding everything in Falkirk south of the Carron - heady days!

Orienteering (turf) 2:35:10 [2] 11.5 km (13:30 / km) +85m 13:01 / km

Change of scene today, raiding in Polmont.

I don't go to Polmont much, as it has several keen Turfers who keep the zones turning over between them, but took advantage of FiFVO being in Bathgate (or Broxburn, or somewhere else with a B that's in West Lothian) to throw in a cheeky raid.

Snaffled them all, with a bit of a detour to claim the last few on the canal bank, due to ongoing work at Polmont Bridge.

Resurrection Shuffle - a familiar route with a new addition

Reclaiming lost zones, to Rosebank via the hospital, then towpath to the Wheel. Wheel tunnel closed for maintenance, and the advice was to rejoin via Lime Road - nae chance of that.

Over the top, passing two surprised Scottish Canals flunkies who were on their lunchbreak, to rejoin the Union Canal, and back to the High Station. That's the familiar bit, and now for the new addition.

Noticed that the Helix & Kelpies had been taken, so a wee reverse slide through Callendar Park and eastern Middlefield brought me out at the stadium, well placed for a nab. Back through Ladysmill.

Orienteering (turf) 1:47:05 [2] 8.2 km (13:04 / km) +20m 12:54 / km

They are not long, the days of wine and roses.

After getting pretty much free rein last week, got hammered yesterday, losing 30 zones. Unfortunately they were at different ends of the town, and to get them all back would have been a 25km day, which I didn't fancy. Settled for the higher tariff, and will go for the others tomorrow.

Middlefield, Helix & Kelpies, and F&C canal to Bankside, then home.

Orienteering (turf) 2:18:43 [2] 8.79 km (15:47 / km) +65m 15:13 / km

To paraphrase Billy Connelly (who may have ripped it off from Ranulph Feinnes, who ripped it off from Alfred Wainwright) "There is no such thing as the wrong weather, merely the wrong shoes".

I would have needed a whole shoe shop for my session today, as a major thaw overnight left underfoot conditions a slippery mess of ice, snow and mud.

Repatriated Callendar Park from Oopadoopra, and extended it out to Bantaskine to take the only three neutral zones left south of the Carron. Moderately long walk back in, to find that BroonD&Tina were in full attack mode, and had taken the Helix & Kelpies, so I'm worse off for points that when I started. Taking them back will no doubt be tomorrow's task.

Orienteering (turf) 1:34:28 [2] 5.97 km (15:49 / km) +20m 15:34 / km

Turf-lite. Woke to find that Oopadoopra had taken some zones from me first thing, and as some of them are prime real estate, went to reclaim them.

Middlefield, Helix (but not Kelpies), then F&C canal to Bankside, finishing back through Ladysmill. Could have taken back Callendar Park as well, but that would have left Oopadoopra with nothing to show for the day, and I'm not that mean.

Been run out of Larbert as well, so about 20 points down on yesterday, but I've had a good run at it last week, and in any case, Larbert is raiding territory, rather than somewhere to hold long-term
