Slept long but was quite broken. don't think it was a deep sleep. went for a walk round whinlatter in the morning for 30mins to wake legs up as they felt very stiff. didn't mentally tired. had porridge around 8:30. took a bit longer to get sorted than anticipated and didn't set off until 1100. had banana just before starting. had full rack pack. got new salomon sense 10 one. felt good. comfortable and no bounce. plenty of storage. started off feeling very good. climbs onto catbells, maiden moor and high spy felt great, was able to run the whole way despite it being technical in parts. legs felt quite fresh. didn't take long to get used to using poles again but actually at this point running on the gentler uphills felt strong without poles as well. at this point i was feeling good about things and thought i hadn't lost too much hill conditioning over winter. got to the bottom of dale head and found this climb really difficult. the path was a bit stairy and a bit broken and was hard to get in a running rhythm so i hiked it and really felt my energy zapping. was a really tough climb. legs had pretty much gone at this point which was really disappointing. id actually been planning on going up robinson but didn't think it'd be worth it with the way my legs were feeling, plus i'd already gone over elevation plan. descent was frustrating technical so was quite slow. i know you said snowdonia is technical so maybe this was good prqctice.overall pretty disappointed how legs felt on second half. i think maybe not enough fuelling before. no injuries. wore the saucony peregrines, i like how they feel. noticeably less grip than vjs. had huel, banana and pasta and some bread when i finished. felt ok the rest of the day
