Another good night sleep.
10min prehab.
Drills + 20min easy + 8xalternating 1000/600+20min easy.
That was awful. Felt shit from the start - even doing the drills. Felt fatigued and completely different to how I have felt the past week. Have a little bit of a cold (not covid I think - have tested three times this week and testing again as I'm writing this) so maybe that affected the run? The first 20mins felt slow and legs just didn't move well. Thought it might loosen up and I started the alternation with a positive attitude, despite feeling completely oposite to how I felt on thursday. Not invincible any longer.... Funny how things can change so much in a couple of days. I was struggling to get the pace right. First 2 x 1000m @ 3:17 - which was ok if you look at the number and the plan I had before the session. To ease into things. But the fact was that I was already struggling and it felt really hard to hold that pace, and also the "floating" pace on the 600m segments. It felt a lot harder than 2 weeks ago - allthough paces were pretty similar. Tried to push a bit extra on alternation 3 and 4 - to get to 3:15 - but that only resulted in feeling absolute shit for number 5 and 6. I really wanted to finish after the 6th and was running slow on the 600m. Eventually I finally got my brain switched on and decided to at least finish the session giving it my best shot. So number 7 and 8 were decent but not great. And way harder than they should be.... Not a great day, not a great session. But this is really the first one in this block of training where I felt like this. So I think/hope it's a one off. At least I get the chance of nailing the session in 2 weeks ;) Rest, eat and recover tomorrow. Will be careful on tuesdays run as well and rather focus on recovery if I still feel flat. Apart from that - at least there are no pains or niggles.
