Running 2:01:20 [3] 31.41 km (3:52 / km) +90m 3:48 / km
ahr:148 slept:7.5 shoes: Carbon X2

Happy with that. Could tell things were feeling better within the drills, still carried a little caution that some discomfort could develop in the left leg after 30 minutes or so. But didn't any issue. Stride is feeling really good and flowy. Very controlled and relaxed at the mod pace, held back the pace to not overdo things.

Sunny and pretty hot but no issue there. Sipped on 1 x 500ml drink mix 120cal throughout.

Kept it flat and through the parks and bike paths again. Had hoped to get out to the runnable forest tracks for it, but decided best to go flatter and not risk much with the left leg.

Fingers crossed the knee continues positively in these next weeks.

First time in the Carbon X2 for a while, as discussed had a hit and miss relationship with stiffer shoes with extensor tendonitis. But that's settled nicely over recent months, so was confident it would be no issue today. Enjoyed the ride as much for the foam as the stiffness.

Running 2:00:03 [3] 20.8 km (5:46 / km) +698m 4:57 / km

Midday start felt confident enough to get out on the hills without it causing issue to the knee. Took things very light and relaxed. Knee no more bothered than on the flats the past few days, but still not quite 100%.

Felt good to be back on the hills a little. Going to give the moderate a crack tomorrow, but tone things down to easy if there's any sign of the knee not having it.

Running 1:25:32 [1] 19.03 km (4:30 / km) +35m 4:27 / km
slept:7.0 shoes: HOKA Clifton 7

Flat, grassy, easy. As mentioned leg felt maybe a little better, still a bit of sensation, but no more than it's been before it cleared up a few weeks back.

Didn't get any worse through the run. Skipped strides as not to aggravate things.

Running 1:20:00 [3] 18.01 km (4:27 / km) +48m 4:23 / km
slept:7.0 shoes: HOKA Clifton 7

Took things flat and easy after the knee nagged at the end of yesterday.

Felt it a little within the first half, stopped around 8km for a minute, stretched the quad as much to just bend the knee. It seemed happier after that. Was confident that the run wasn't making it any worse.

Didn't feel as bad as at the end of yesterdays session. Just a bit of a dull ache. I think it's settling. Didn't nag through the rest of the day.

Think I'll give some rolling trails a go tomorrow if it feels positive in the drills if not I'll just keep it flat.

Running 2:00:00 [3] 27.01 km (4:27 / km) +643m 3:58 / km
slept:6.5 shoes: HOKA Clifton 7

Was looking forward to this session with it being the first harder session in a while and with the confidence building again from the setback with the left knee.

Hills in the local area not quite what we're after, 2.5km @10%, so I focused on hitting an area where I knew I'd at least have 15 minutes of uphill. Unfortunately there's a few drops on the climb, but pushed through them to keep the effort in the right place. Feel like I hit the session well.

The last effort was on an alternative side of the hill, thought it would offer a little more but was even further off.

2 x 3.5km +176m 14:36, 14:51
1 x 3.2km +154m 13:52

Got a few location ideas in mind for the next session, where I should be able to hit that 2.5km @10% avg.

Body held up well on the efforts, noticed my right quads fatiguing prematurely over the left. Nothing like a harder session exposing some imbalances. Unfortunately after the final effort on the descent, my left knee started aching a little, so jogged home very easy with some discomfort. Confident it will settle down, but will take it easy tomorrow and cut things back if needed.

Monday May 24 #

8 AM

Running 43:22 [1] 9.1 km (4:46 / km)
slept:7.0 shoes: HOKA Clifton 7

Late run, relaxed. Just flat and easy in the parks.

Sunday May 23 #

12 PM

Running 1:16:25 [1] 15.21 km (5:01 / km) +286m 4:36 / km

Heavy rains back. Legs felt nice and bouncy through the drills. Absorbing the load well, hardly feel yesterdays 3 hours.

Relaxed road/trail mix, legs and energy good. Nothing really to report.

Looking forward to Tuesdays long hills and pushing things along a bit.
