sage stomp long

legs are shot, first section of the course was a new part of dirty beetle and was pretty neat just insanely steep

very clean, only 2 errors—on 3 missed the control (short leg through some green and just got too pushed around so jumped to the trail and came at the control from the other side), 20 hesitated bc of the control code (81 with a line underneath written horizontally on the unit and my tired brain thought it said 100…)

pleased though, probably could have been up to 10min faster if i was in a good place physically

sage stomp middle

clear from the start that i’m absolutely gassed, probably should have considered running down a course

this was a pretty physical middle with a lot of thick vegetation so best routes were to go around, but in my dead state decided to take a lot of shortcuts and that got me nowhere

blew up the first control after taking a bad shortcut, then missed 7 (i swear i went right by it…), then did something similar on 14 after taking a really straight route but veering a bit too far to the left

distance is slightly short as i fell and paused my watch on the way down, didnt realise until i got the power save notification 5min later so tagged on 5min but unsure how far i went in that time

one duck lake; a few short loops then corridor o (part of it: we were running out of time and needing to drive back to vancouver)

walked a section of the corridor, and some waiting between loops

definitely not mentally in it, sage stomp middle/long tomorrow where i’ll try give what’s left then at least one or two days off

parkhurst intervals

while intervals are supposed to be max speed orienteering, when the terrain is as messy and technical as parkhurst it becomes survival i swear

1st interval was a write off, ran out of time and bailed to the finish, 2nd and 3rd took very slowly and had some very nice mistakes but getting into the map, 4th was best by far and much faster but did manage to miss a control

includes rest and walking between finishes/starts (which quite frankly increased the overall pace)

whistler village 2014 coc sprint m21 run

running very slow (but feeling really good for some reason), massive time loss on 4 after misreading the control description and then running in circles around the building

12 was a poor route choice and slow to read the control circle

16 exit on 15 was awful as i started reading 16’s exit instead (in my defence they were both in canopy areas but that should not have happened)

was looking forward to this as i’ve been feeling awesome, but doesn’t look like my head or my body was into it at all

rough start on 1, then took it slow and missed 2, then was okay on 3-9 but missed 10 and as a result 11

aoife planned a fantastic contour only training

started hailing on the way to 6, held on until 12 before deciding to bail bc i was too cold

ubco sprint intervals first one

bit of a struggle getting down the hill to , but after that it was smooth until the last control where i impulsively decided to take a different route from what alton and aoife were doing and lost quite a bit of time as it was a fair bit longer

faster than the first, some climb though and lots of stairs

no mistakes on this one

last interval and this one was trickier, also had an insane amount of climb

pleased though as i nailed all the controls

legs were definitely tired, but expected that

pothole map exploration with david

we basically just walked a part of a long training course david had set that visited most of the cool areas

very beautiful and very technical area that even had what looks like an abandoned start of a mine

wcocs 2023 middle m21 course

going for flow but not race effort or anything, just having a good time and wanting to get a good start to the week

very happy with the majority of it, some bobbles but nothing more than a few minutes (2, 5)

wcocs 2023 long m21 course

gave ourselves a time limit of 90min, so visited start-8-18-finish

super happy with a lot of this, today was a good day

missed 2 (bad direction), 3 was a bit to the right but still ok track, same for 4 but to the left, 5 nailed though (long leg), was somehow way too high on 8 and bobbled on 21 (thought i was at the control but was not, direction was perfect but i was a cliff early)
