Did a map memory with James, then added sam for a train, then added Finn for another train. Good stuff, terrain a bit less energy sapping than yesterday.

Crownpoint 3000
Just so crap I’ve run faster than this in 5kms. Knew I was going to have to drop off the 8:45 pacer early, but didn’t want to drop off that much. I just hate tracks, felt like I was sprinting the whole way rather than the cruising on my 5kms. I don’t think the £20 spikes are very good, make my feet hurt lots. I think I was too excited last night for other things so tried to sleep at 11 and fell asleep at 2. Stomach was also in pieces all day so I was probably too low on fluids. I hope both of these factors aren’t nerves because if that is the case then I’m letting it get the better of me. Next 3km in a weeks time. Kind of scared that I will yet again disappoint so a bit tempted to drop out. Maybe now that I’ve opened my season and know how it feels I could try to race better.

Run 19:02 intensity: (13:32 @2) + (5:30 @3) 3.32 km (5:44 / km)

Aw ffs. This is all I had planned to get the legs turning for the 3000 on Friday but gps was poop and didn’t measure the first bit because of the trees (I’ve now measured electronically and adjusted the distance) so I was running harder than I should’ve to get up to pace. Felt like I had forgotten how to run at that pace.

For the 3km I would like to get sub 9 with some breathing room but sessions of recent have been so terrible and I’ve been so inconsistent I don’t know what to wish for anymore. Need to get sessioning again and stop fannying about with easy days. Can’t come down for every race.

Run 14:02 intensity: (1:22 @1) + (12:40 @2) 2.53 km (5:32 / km)
ahr:133 max:146

Nice to be back feeling great on the seat. Pretty painless too. I think it’s just the right mood/mindset. Ankles quite tired and stiff from terrain racing though. A bit run down from vaccine but I’m now fully TBE’d. Sweden ready!

Culbin

Feeling like a bit of a dead weight to the lads but lots of sleepless racing is taking its toll. Bashed the same knee in the same place as I did on Saturday having done 3 courses of 5. Burst the scab and it was still a bit swollen so it seized up when I hit it. Jogged it back along the tracks after that. Managed to get the most lost that I have all weekend though because I didn’t have a map for the shortest route back.
