Sunday Sep 30

Adventure race race 4:58:05 [5]
shoes: Ascis Gel GT 2110
Grassington Open5. Rather disappointingly we wern't allowed off ROWs for the O bit so it was just a long run, lost a few minutes and didn't take the best route. Wanted to get all the controls so was out on my feet a fair while (2,15), 10 minutes at the changeover and then a good route on the bike. Tough and steep (especially at the start) but much drier than when I was up there last year. Back with less than 2 minutes to spare so manged to grab a wee backpack for my efforts (prizes nowhere as good as last year) as 2nd had the same points but was 5 minutes late. Calf was no problem at all and still isn't, the rest of me is bollocked though!

Saturday Sep 29

Note
Calf still a bit suspect so decided to give it a bit more rest before tomorrow.

Friday Sep 28

Trail run 43:05 [3]
shoes: Ascis Gel GT 2110
What a difference a day can make, felt like Tigger today, full of bounce! Normal short loop but was quicker than usual despite only running steady. Wish alll runs felt like this.

Thursday Sep 27

Trail run 10:00 [1]
shoes: Asics Torana
Warm up with Chris and Matt. Nasty day, wore a thermal and cag!
Trail run 20:00 [2]
shoes: Asics Torana
Carried on with Matt. Still slow and the hill at the end was hard work. Felt really rubbish. Warmed up a bit though.
Strength exercises 22:00 [4]

Wednesday Sep 26

Note
(rest day)
Rest day today, went to Alton Towers with the uni gang, good day out, cold but no queues. Right calf still a bit tight, will tak eit easy tomorrow ans stretch it plenty.

Tuesday Sep 25

Strength exercises 21:00 [4]
Trail run 10:00 [1]
shoes: Ascis Gel GT 2110
Started off on a run with Chris and Matt, very slow as Chris hasn't run in months, got as far as the allotments beyond the stables.
Trail run 39:00 [3]
shoes: Ascis Gel GT 2110
Finished run with Matt at a slighly slower than normal pace (Short Rivelin circuit up Coppice). Right calf slightly sore as per 6 day.

Monday Sep 24

Trail run 56:30 [3]
shoes: Asics Torana
A bit damp for the first time in weeks, not wet and sticky yet but I'm sure that it wont be long coming. Circuit along the top of RIvelin and back along the bottom and then straight up from the baths to the graveyard. Didn't really want to be out and didn't put a lot of effort in.

Sunday Sep 23

Orienteering race 32:00 [4]4.7 km (6:49 / km) +150m 5:52 / km
shoes: Inov8
Bingham park race, quite a nice course for the area with no desperate hills. felt comfortable all the way around although I did make a few dumb mistakes and then mispunch (well there were two controls on path junctions within 50m and no lose discriptions available).
Warm up/down 15:00 [2]
shoes: Ascis Gel GT 2110

Saturday Sep 22

walk 7:00:00 [1]
Day mapping for MDOC, Piethorne near Oldham. Not very exciting, just updates to do but an ok area for a run. Map not great in many places (contoures straight from photogrammetry) so changed a lot of bits as I went. Only had a few areas to check so didn't look at the majority of the map, spent quite a bit of the day on the move because of this.

Friday Sep 21

Strength exercises 22:00 [4]
Trail run 1:13:20 [3]
shoes: Asics Torana
Loxley hill route, felt handy enough and did it in a decent time without pushing. 3.40 for last climb straight up from the ford in Rivelin. Why do I get a nettle sting every time I go out these days (also I also managed to head-butt two trees today as well).

Thursday Sep 20

Note
(rest day)
Didn't plan on having a rest today (especially as yesterday was so easy) but jwas in one of those can't be bothered to do anthing type of moods.

Wednesday Sep 19

Mountain Bike 1:10:00 [1]
With Faye around Blacka and Burbage. Some nice bits of track, best bits I've been on around, worth the effort in getting over there. Very slow today though as it was Faye's first propper biking.

Tuesday Sep 18

Trail run 1:13:20 [2]
shoes: Ascis Gel GT 2110
Rivelin Dam. Quite cold again today and had to drag myself out. Happy enough while running but took it very easy. Hill up from river was no problem but as I said, was slow up until then. Ankle a little sore but I think that I'll live.

Strength exercises 18:00 [3]
Trail run 46:00 [2]
shoes: Asics Torana
Short Coppice track circuit. Felt a bit rubbish as was too close to lunch and a bit tired from weekend, but generally just didn't want to go out. Gave my right ankle a tweak (which hurt) but seams to be grand now.

Sunday Sep 16

Warm up/down 12:00 [3]
shoes: VJ Falcon 07
Orienteering race 1:04:20 [5]9.2 km (7:00 / km) +290m 6:02 / km
shoes: VJ Falcon 07
Dales weekend day 2. Langstrothdale Chase. Badge event. Rough, lots of tussocks, hard work, fairly steep but all runnable. A bit cold and damp but not a problem, othere than few bingo pits anf the like. Again no one to run against so a cleat lead.

Saturday Sep 15

Orienteering race 1:23:00 [5]13.1 km (6:20 / km) +420m 5:28 / km
shoes: VJ Falcon 07
Airienteers National event, Attemire. Ok area but loads of walls and far to many hidden controls and a few bingo pits. Not as fast as I expecting, especially towards the end. Ran reasonably well but stated to get hungry after 70 minutes or so. No competition so won by over 10 minutes.
Warm up/down 25:00 [3]
shoes: VJ Falcon 07

Thursday Sep 13

Other 2:40:00 [1]
Spent a few hours doing manual labour with a spade - digging out steps. Not hard work but got tired and a few blisters, aslo managed to hurt my wrist, will need a bit of reat.

Wednesday Sep 12

walk 4:00:00 [1]
shoes: Ascis Gel GT 2110
Walk with the old uns in the hills, verey steep (but slow) first 90 minutes and then a long decent after lunch. Hardly hard work but tired legs by the end.

Tuesday Sep 11

Orienteering 53:00 [3]
shoes: Ascis Gel GT 2110
Went to the local map in Arque with Dad and ran an old course, very slippery, steep and bushy but nice. Quite warm but a little wind. Fun, but took it very easy.

Sunday Sep 9

Trail run 55:00 [4]
shoes: Ascis Gel GT 2110
Ran up Hellveyn to support the silly people doing the Tri. Quite tired but Boyzone kept me moving at a good pace. Cold and windy on the top but lovely lower down.

Trail run 30:00 [1]
shoes: Asics Torana
Jog down from the top of Hellvelyn with Fionne and Boyzone, very east but as I'd put so much effort in going up I had to count the decent as well!

Saturday Sep 8

Trail run 2:28:00 [3]
rhr:44 slept:7.0 shoes: Ascis Gel GT 2110
Long run in the Lakes, High Raise from Pooley Bridge, evening run and didn't see a soul after 30 minutes, strange to be out in the Lakes on a beautiful evening wiht no one around, wan't complaining though, it was amazing out. Got tires about the 2 hour mark but picked up again at the end so was feeling quite good.

Friday Sep 7

Trail run 45:15 [3]
rhr:41 slept:6.5 weight:71.5kg shoes: Ascis Gel GT 2110
Down to Rivelin and up Coppice, took it fairly handy up the track and got from bridge to top in uder 8 minutes. Another lovely day and really enjoyed it once I warmed up.
Strength exercises 18:00 [4]

Thursday Sep 6

Terrain run 1:38:00 [2]
rhr:40 slept:7.5 weight:72kg
Long slow run with Boyzone from redmires across the mountain to Bamford edge and back. Some nice new places to run but quite rough in places. Awesome evening to be out.

Wednesday Sep 5

Note
rhr:41 slept:7.0 (rest day)

Tuesday Sep 4

Trail run 1:15:00 [4]
slept:8.0 weight:71kg shoes: Ascis Gel GT 2110
Loxely hill run, from Loxley over to Rivelin and home the steep way with Boyzone. Felt good and quite strong for the first time in weeks. Steady enough pace but some good climbs. Feel all the better for it. Right hip giving a little grief though.

Monday Sep 3

Trail run 47:10 [3]
slept:6.0 weight:71kg shoes: Asics Torana
Rivelin cicuit (with a few add ons) with Boyzone, started off slow but got a bit brisk when Boyzone realised that he needed to get home in a rush to have a comfort break... My stomach is still not happy running, can't work out why though.
Strength exercises 20:00 [3]

Sunday Sep 2

Mountain Bike 1:00:00 [1]
Cycle round Ladybower with Faye. Looked nice leaving Sheffield but turned windy with a lot of moisture in it. Got damp. Slow but steady pace (Faye has been ill for past few days). Need a few more easy days like this.

Saturday Sep 1

Trail run 1:14:15 [2]
rhr:40 slept:6.5 shoes: Asics Torana
Around Redmires, across towards the Headstone, then accross the A57 and down to Stannington. Ran with Boyzone, felt rubbish (hip sore, tummy not settled and too close to lunch as well as being generally tired). Thought that it's take longer - will have to add a loop next time.
