Just about better, may try a jog tomorrow before heading off to France.
C • Have a great time... 2

Tuesday Jul 29

Note
(sick)
Still ill but not a bad cold, just a bit of a sore throat, will be grand in a day or so.

Monday Jul 28

Note

Sunday Jul 27

Note
(sick)
Throat still very yukky and will probably turn into a cough, so no exercise today.

Saturday Jul 26

Note
(rest day)
All day traveling back from O-Ringen, had a very hot day in Oslo waiting for time to pass for a late flight back. Tired from the week, particularly from the marsh rugby, but happy that I felt quite goos even if I didn't have enough strength for the last day. Think that I'm now getting a cold as my throat is sore a dry :(

Friday Jul 25

Orienteering race 1:31:06 [5]10.9 km (8:21 / km)
shoes: VJ Falcon 07
O-Ringen, Day 5, H21L-2. Not with it today, no focus and very tired. Big mistake at number one and then just slow and tired until a tiredness mistake near the end, lost 6 places and ended up 11th, not bad but got passed by 9th and 10th near the end but didn't have the motivation to chase them.
Warm up/down warm up/down 15:00 [2]2.5 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: VJ Falcon 07
Unspecified intervals 30:00 [5]
Marsh rugby against the Americans. Brilliant marsh and an excellent game, but hugely physical. Showed them how to play the game though and had some excellent tackles in the deep and wet bog. Great way to finish the week.

Thursday Jul 24

Orienteering race 43:31 [5]7.1 km (6:08 / km)
shoes: VJ Falcon 07
O-Ringen, Day4, H21L-2. Very late start and very hot (over 30) and very open but mostly quite easy. Died about half way around and really struggled on the 60m climb back up the hill near the end (not a fan of the planner). Finished 7th which was better than it should have been and still in 5th for the chase tomorrow.
Warm up/down warm up/down 10:00 [2]1.5 km (6:40 / km)
shoes: VJ Falcon 07
Ski lift up to the start today so a much shorter warm-up than the past few days. Still too tired to warm-down.

Wednesday Jul 23

Orienteering race 1:14:14 [5]11.3 km (6:34 / km)
shoes: VJ Falcon 07
O-Ringen, Day 3, H21L-2. Some open today and some dull long legs across it, also some beautiful forest but very poor planning for us in it. Had one empty headed moment and lost about 1.5mins, but otherwise clean. An absolutely pointless 100m climb straight up the hill near the end nearly killed me and started to feel the heat then. Finished about 13th and somewhere about 6th overall.
Warm up/down warm up/down 25:00 [2]3.6 km (6:57 / km)
shoes: VJ Falcon 07
Jog to start, too tired at the end to do anything.

Tuesday Jul 22

Orienteering race 35:55 [5]4.9 km (7:20 / km)
shoes: VJ Falcon 07
)-Ringen, Day 2, H21L-2. Middle race and a very early start, good as the forest wasn't crowed but not tracks at all. Lost a minute early on but otherwise clean and feeling good. Nice area apart from the last few controls which were a bit grotty. Finished somewhere in the low teens and dropped a few places overall but quite happy from such an early start.
Warm up/down warm up/down 20:00 [2]3.1 km (6:27 / km)
shoes: VJ Falcon 07

Monday Jul 21

Event: Oringen 2008

Orienteering race 1:33:38 [5]13 km (7:12 / km)
shoes: VJ Falcon 07
O-Ringen, Day 1, H21L-2. Long and tough area and some beautiful forest and contours, navigated very well for most of the course and only made one mistake of a minute or two when I didn't see the flag. Also felt pretty good and ran well, but not too hard as there are still plenty of days left. Very surprised to finish 4th, especially as I ended up about 50th in the same class two years ago.
Warm up/down warm up/down 20:00 [3]3.2 km (6:15 / km)
shoes: VJ Falcon 07
Left the jog all the way up the hill a bit late so had to run the whole thing.

Sunday Jul 20

Note
(rest day)
Was planning on going on one of the training maps but with the distances between them and no transport it wasn't worth the effort.

Saturday Jul 19

Note
(rest day)
Long day traveling to the O-Ringen

Friday Jul 18

Note
(rest day)

Thursday Jul 17

Note
(rest day)
A well needed rest day after the past few days in the hills.

Wednesday Jul 16

walk long 4:30:00 [1]
Last day and not such a tough one, although still two good climbs, also a bit drier and the cloud stayed high. A good but tiring few days, hope to recover for O-Ringen next week.

Tuesday Jul 15

walk long 5:20:00 [2]
Very long and tough walk in the Lakes, plenty of very severe climbs and a few showers and low cloud to make it a bit more difficult. Very tired now.

Monday Jul 14

walk long 6:20:00 [1]
Harvey mapping, not such a nice day, low cloud for much of it but still quite warm and not much rain.

Sunday Jul 13

walk long 6:00:00 [1]
Up-dating Harvey mapping in the Lakes, beautiful day and good views, but plenty of climb.

Saturday Jul 12

Event: Cliffhanger Ultrasprint

Orienteering race 8:36 [4]
UltraSprint in Millhouses Park. Went well and felt pretty good and in control and would have taken the course win had I not been a complete numpty and skipped the second last control. B final for me then. The maze was better than last year (although still not quite big enough) but the park was quite a bit easier than last years woods.
Orienteering race 14:38 [4]
shoes: Inov8
UltraSprint in Millhouses Park. No real competition in the B final so ran on my own, pretty clean aside from a small miss on one butterfly (15 seconds) and then trying to cut across the tennis courts and having to turn around as they were OOB (another 15 seconds). Still fun and well worth doing.
Warm up/down 15:00 [2]2 km (7:30 / km)

Friday Jul 11

Road run 37:00 [2]8.6 km (4:18 / km)
shoes: Ascis Gel GT 2110
Run over to Millhouses Park to help contstruct the maze for tomorrow's Supersprint and then on to Shane and Fionne's. The maze is much more challenging than last years!
C • more challenging to make? 1

Wednesday Jul 9

Road run 43:00 [2]8.8 km (4:53 / km)
ahr:161 max:173 shoes: Ascis Gel GT 2110
Round Walkley, Broomhill and Crosspool. No better, still okay jogging but no stength.

Monday Jul 7

Trail run 46:25 [2]9 km (5:09 / km)

Normal Rivelin, felt rough and heart rate was high for such low intensity.

Friday Jul 4

Road bike 2:28:00 [2]64.5 km (2:18 / km)
Nice day so had to get out and do something. Longish and steady cycle and good to be out. Felt fine at such low intensity.

Thursday Jul 3

Note
(rest day)
Got first set of blood test results back with no problems (iron, liver etc), they had the blood for too long before testing so couldn't do a white cell count so have had that done again as well as a test for Lyme disease.

Wednesday Jul 2

Trail run 54:30 [1]9 km (6:03 / km)
shoes: Asics Torana
Short Rivelin loop with Chris. Stopped to take photos along the way so had to run a little faster to catch him up in places, otherwise just a trot. Chris beat the hour for the first time though.
