Warm up/down 15:00 [1] 1.0 km (15:00 / km) +110m 9:41 / km
shoes: VJ Falcon 07

Slow walk/jog to the start. No energy and had trouble making it up the hill. Felt dead again. No warm down - didn't have the energy.

Run - Orienteering race 2:09:03 [3] 14.8 km (8:43 / km) +545m 7:22 / km
shoes: VJ Falcon 07

National Event, UK Cup final and British Selection races: Classic, Brown Clee. Very warm day but I was feeling dead long before the heat affected me. Made it most of the way to number one before dying and couldn't run the hill to two. Then decided just to take it easy and finish. Not too sure that it was a good idea as I didn't enjoy it at all and was out forever. With no focus my brain also switched off and I made quite a few silly mistakes.
However the strangest issue with the event was the crossing points. I only half read the information and knew that we had to use them, but when they weren't marked and it made some legs nearly impossible to detour to them, I gave up on them and crossed fences - 6 in total plus two where I used an unmarked crossing point. Surely I should be disq'ed but I didn't see any other people making the necessary detours (and as I was so slow I saw most of the top 10 runners!). Poor controlling I would say and a huge disadvantage to anyone who did go out of their way to use them.

Run - Orienteering race 18:30 [4] 2.9 km (6:23 / km) +50m 5:52 / km
shoes: Asics Torana

National Event, UK Cup final and British Selection races: Sprint. Shrewsbuy city centre. First time that I've tried running hard for about a month and my body wasn't interested. Felt rough from the start and decided to take it steady, however that was no excuse for the mistakes (completely the wrong direction to number 3 and read the description for 11 when looking for 12 and ended up the wrong side of the building). 50th and 1 UK cup point!

Warm up/down 30:00 [2] 3.0 km (10:00 / km)

Various warming up/down for both races.

Run - Orienteering race 43:18 [4] 6.1 km (7:06 / km)
shoes: VJ Falcon 07

National Event, UK Cup final and British Selection races: Middle, Western Heath. Nice area but not the time of year to use it. Steep re-entrants with crags and mature forest with dense bracken undergrowth. Good late start but really didn't feel good, no energy from the start and couldn't do hills. Got caught out on 2 and 6 by getting the wrong path in the bracken and lost about a minute, otherwise quite clean but missing any speed. Finished 17th after a lot of suffering (especially on the 1km run-in) but it could have been so much better - I'm sure that sub 40 would have been quite achievable.

Bike - Mountain 2:00:00 [1] 29.3 km (4:06 / km)

Around the reservoir with Chris and Matt on mountain bikes. Lovely day and an easy route and pace (apart from the climb up past Hagg farm).

Bike - Road 1:37:00 [2] 35.1 km (2:46 / km)

What a day to be out. Enjoyed it hugely, blue skies, a warm breeze and the smell of country, so much better than working.

Run - Trail 48:30 [2] 9.0 km (5:23 / km)
shoes: Asics Torana

Rivelin short loop. Wow, my legs had no idea what I was doing to them and were not amused, so despite intentionally running very slow it was actually quite hard work, although cicuits last night may have had something to do with that as well.
