Walk 30:00 [1]

90 minutes in the hills collecting bat recording devices. Don't usually log this sort of thing but as I was out a while, built up a good sweat and was carrying up to 20kg I thought it worth a little recording - especially as my legs are tired from yesterday.
6 PM

Run - Road 4:30 [2] 0.9 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel GT 1120 07

Run down to the hall in Dunblane, bumped into Hazel on the way.

Pilates 25:00 [1]

Lead by Janine this week, think she's kinder than Jason! Still don't bend anywhere though.

Circuits 25:00 [4]
shoes: Asics Gel GT 1120 07

Quite a good session, felt much better than last week and just about managed to do a full compliment of exercises at each station. Two loops of 40-10.

Run - Trail warm up/down 7:16 intensity: (8 @0) + (1:56 @1) + (1:09 @2) + (4:03 @3) 1.39 km (5:13 / km)
ahr:141 max:157 shoes: VJ Falcons 11

From the car to the start, was running a bit l;ate as I'd forgotten that I needed to tape my ankle. Thankfully all downhill! Got to the event so late the money collectors had gone. Win!

Run - Orienteering race 1:19:30 intensity: (6:08 @3) + (17:51 @4) + (55:31 @5) 9.28 km (8:34 / km) +357m 7:11 / km

UK Cup final, Pickering, M21E, 9.1km, 375m. Disappointingly small field (15 I think) so the mass start was somewhat lacking on the mass aspect. Felt good for the first minute but then realised that my body wasn't up for today. I was moving okay in the terrain but had no strength on hills and was taking descents very easy.

Spent most of the race in sight of Akhilleus, he was running quite a bit quicker but orienteering like a numpty! I was feeling awful, heart rate was very high even though I wasn't pushing very hard (couldn't), so just tried to stay as clean as possible. Actually really enjoyed the area but wasn't all that impressed with the mapping.

Rich R, Anthony and Murry were way out front and thought a few others were as well, but then saw Duncan and we told that we were 4/5/6 going into the last loop. Expected top be dropped as I couldn't push, but the other two disappeared in the green and I came out the other side on my own!
2 PM

Run - Trail warm up/down 10:05 intensity: (37 @0) + (1:13 @2) + (8:15 @3) 1.3 km (7:44 / km) +77m 5:58 / km
ahr:151 max:158 shoes: VJ Falcons 11

Back to the car after the race. Legs very tires. Unfortunately it was all uphill!

Note

Absolutely no time for training today, lots of moving boxes, even more driving and of course a bit of rugby watching - disappointing result but at least it was a good game.

Mapping 1:00:00 [0]

Back to mapping Sauchie (5.15 hours), nice bit of forest between the crags and reservoir, surprisingly detailed, if slightly steep. As it's JonX's wedding shortly I kept my eye out for kettle for him, alas none were found today, though two golf balls were (presumably someone was trying to get them into the water from the top of the crags). Also a trail of yellow ribbons out there, though as none were tied around an old oak tree I concluded that today wasn't going to be special for me.
5 PM

Bike - Road 1:26:00 intensity: (2:00 @0) + (2:07 @2) + (43:24 @3) + (35:33 @4) + (2:56 @5) 42.18 km (2:02 / km) +329m 1:58 / km
ahr:162 max:250

Quick evening outing: Dunblane-Doune-Deanston-Callander-Doune-Dunblane, had to be quick as I was under time pressure; the sun was setting! Not used to this sort of thing at all and am pretty tired after the effort. Still, was wanting to do under 90 minutes and I just about made that. Did pretty much exactly a marathon distance and incredible to think that the wheelchair guys get round in about the sane time that I was out today!
Obviously didn't use enough spit on my HRM...

Note
(rest day)

Wet, wet, wet out today, and when it wasn't wet it was very wet. Decided that there's no point in rushing back to doing too much training and that what I actually required was a rest day. The decision was not weather influenced.

Run - Orienteering 1:03:08 intensity: (44 @0) + (18:52 @1) + (21:11 @2) + (14:23 @3) + (7:58 @4) 8.8 km (7:11 / km) +253m 6:17 / km
ahr:138 max:167 shoes: Adidas Kanadia TR2

Nice 'n easy around Abbey Craig, the University and the Hermitage with a pleasant group of FVOers. First run of the season with a head torch, but despite the wind and darkness it was still pretty warm. Was feeling surprisingly tired after yesterday (actually probably more to do with hardly doing any training for a month) so the relaxed pace was welcome.

Run - Terrain 51:29 intensity: (7 @0) + (44 @1) + (3:16 @2) + (20:15 @3) + (26:55 @4) + (12 @5) 8.61 km (5:59 / km) +183m 5:24 / km
ahr:158 max:175 shoes: Adidas Kanadia TR2

Right bog trot up to the Gathering Stone via miscellaneous bits of woods and fields. Lashing rain when I went out so wore a jacket, but it was so warm and I got so wet it was pretty pointless. Very enjoyable but a little tender from circuits last night.
