Quite stiff after yesterday so a fair bit of easy jogging to find my legs. Also had to take myself off to a private bit of forest as the toilet queue was too long.

Canop Ponds plus other bits, Southern Champs, M21E, 14.0km, 535m, 30 controls.
Struggled with the slippery and sticky conditions at the start but eventually got into a rhythm. Nothing exciting about the area and didn't have too many problems, maybe 5 10-15 second misses, but was getting tired towards the end. Veg mapping out of date so caught out a few times. Also had an altercation with a pair of motorbikers who were riding in the terrain and got in my way. One informed me that he didn't care that it was illegal. Again, happy to survive with no physical problems and, as per last night, to be a couple of minutes behind Megan.

South Night Champs, Caerwent, M21, 9.6km, 100m, 21 controls.
Last ran here for some JK relays years ago and my memory was of fast easy and flat terrain. The dark made it slightly more interesting but not by much. So many buildings to bounce off as long as you kept direction you were going to be grand. Quite a few small misses int eh woods, mostly due to the lack of reflectors and not being able to see the controls. Veg on map also wasn't really accurate enough for night navigation. Did sort of enjoy it though and was happy to be able ti run at a reasonable pace with no injury niggles of tiredness from anything other than lack of fitness.

Checking out Hensol Forest with Mark and Alice. As expected, there were some nice bits and some very un-nice bits, but still very hard to know if there is enough usable bits to make it worth mapping. Will have to do a sketch map to see what it looks like. Quite a cool day but nice and sunny. Followed by tea and ice-cream in Cowbridge. Nice.

MDC from HQ. Varied group with no fast people, so lots of stopping to regroup. Test for the hip, which I could feel all the time but it was never sore. Tried one effort up a hill, which was tough on the lings but the hip and legs were grand. Raining a bit but not so bad and really mild.
